“Sublime in every way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2014

I had to film a segment in the gardens of Babylonstoren and got to meet some of the chefs and taste a signature red salad as well as have lunch in their Greenhouse. Babylonstoren is a master class in how to create an experience for the senses that begins the moment you get out of your car and follows you home in a basket full of beautiful delicacies. The breads are artisan artistry. The salad a riot of flavours and textures. The humble sandwich elevated to an interactive fine dining experience. The setting is tranquil and made more charming by the presence of free-roaming chickens and turkeys, a gently snuffling donkey and the currently snow-capped mountains of Franschoek. What I loved most about my day there was the genuine passion and devotion of the people I met - from kitchen to wait staff, shop staff to gardeners. Well done, Babylonstoren for crafting a sublime experience in every way.

“Brilliant!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

We really struggled to get a booking here but it was worth it! The salads were magnificent, strange and tasty! My beef was tender and tasty. The decor is beautiful and with the mountain backdrop the views are great. Service is good but can be slow when they get full and busy. Good food and a brilliant experience. Worth the wait.

“A feast for the senses!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2014 via mobile

Babel is a feast for the senses. The ambience, the setting, the decor, the trendy farm feel and the amazing food. The fillet was divine. Definitely a place to visit. Take a walk in the gardens after lunch, or visit the wine tasting, farm shop or deli. A perfect day outing!

“FRESH AND SIMPLE”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2014

I expected more. We took my Canadian parents in law for lunch. The reservation process was rather stiff and bookings only opened exactly 2 months in advance and it was always fully booked.. kind of made my imagination run out of control (mistake no 1). I expected a very high end experience and Babel is fresh, simple and unpretentious. We dressed up for the occasion (mistake no 2) and it's very relaxed and casual farmyard, donkeys, geese, farm shop etc.
The salad was gorgeous and fresh out of the magnificent gardens. My pizza style eggplant was nice but could have been cooked abit longer. The chocolate fondant and Expresso ice cream was divine ! I will return better informed next time.
