We, a group of 7 from Uruguay, were in South Africa for the 2010 WORLD CUP games and wanted to spend a week in the wine lands. We asked our travel agency at home to recommend a tour company in Franschhoek as we had no idea where to start. They recommended 'Phomolo Travel'. We looked at their website and opted to book. This was the best choice, good value for money in comparison to some of the other companies based in Franschhoek! Koen drove us for the whole week from the hotel to various wineries and to the soccer games in Cape Town. Koen is very passionate and knowledgeable about South African Wines (and soccer) and knows the region very well. We had a limited knowledge of new world wines and so had to rely heavily on Koen. We discussed our interests and he arranged a perfect week, including lunches, and diners at different wineries and restaurants. 'Phomolo Travel' really knows their South African wines and we received a warm welcome at each winery as they clearly respected 'Phomolo Travel'. In September 2009 three friends engaged Phomolo Travel to take us on a Trip
of a Lifetime. We started our journey in Franschhoek in the Western Cape and
visited Namibia, Botswana, and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe from where we flew
back to Cape Town. We covered over 5000 K by road and from the moment Koen
picked us up in his De- luxe travel bus we knew we had chosen the right
person for our expedition. Koen his driving was both safe and considerate.
Each day the vehicle was presented to us in an immaculate condition coupled with
chilled drinks which added to our comfort.
Koen is a noted and highly experienced guide in Southern Africa and his eye
for detail was greatly appreciated. Our accommodation was booked for us
bearing in mind our expectations and age, and the local knowledge the
company had in these countries helped to provide us with invaluable
information of the wildlife, topography and local tribes and their customs.
The local trips were always organised by Koen which took any stress from
ourselves and we just had to sit back and ENJOY, which we did every single
day! We considered that we received very good value for money and Koen
entertained us in his pleasant and affable manner, and often went the extra
mile to please us.
We can highly recommend this Premier Company and would be delighted to

This self-drive tour was designed by Phomolo Travel, a travel company based in Franschhoek. This was one of the best ways to see Franschhoek and the Winelands. For those who want to be independent but who also want reassurance that the route planned is realistic in terms of daily distances travelled. It is also good to know that there is comfy and romantic accommodation waiting at the end of each day. Phomolo Travel provided us with a detailed route description and a list of the best wineries, restaurants and attractions in Franschhoek, Stellenbosch, and Paarl.
