“Unpretentious, warm, relaxing with tasty food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2011

Chris and Louise rock, they run a restaurant that is off the main road. Look for the coffee shop called Essence (diagonally opposite the post office) and just after Essence (also a cool place to go) you will find a pathway with a stream on one side a green fence on the other. In the garden is a building next to the library where you can see Chris and Louise in action.

“Always on my list”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2011

Cafe de Arts is not a fancy restaurant, but the food has always been consistently good. Their breakfast is excellent. Lunch is usually a subset of the dinner menu. The seasonal dinner menu has new items as well as consistent favorites.
On the downside, the presentation is usually less than pretty, but the ample sauces provided more than make up for it with their flavour.
When you're done with fancy and just want excellent food, come here.

“Pity the Customer Care Doesn't Match the Food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2011

We have eaten here twice now - once when it first opened, and again recently. On each occasion, we have enjoyed the food. However, on each occasion, the place has been pretty much deserted and thus lacking life. The space is basic, and depends on people to provide atmosphere. On our recent visit, the owners sat at one table with friends, and were more focused on enjoying their own evening than looking after the two tables that were occupied. The wine list is limited, quirky and expensive. I would strongly suggest taking your own wine and paying the corkage charge. DO NOT attempt to walk the few metres to this restaurant from the Main Road at night. What is a nice little alley in daytime is dangerous at night. We were mugged following our recent visit, and my wife injured, as we walked back to our car. Following the attack, we returned to the restaurant. They did call the police on our behalf, but otherwise did little for us. In the circumstances, we would have expected a phone call to sympathise and to ask about my wife's injury, but there was nothing.

“What's not to love about this great little restaurant?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2011

We love this restaurant! Chris's food is delicious and we love his emphasis on fresh, seasonal food ... hence the menu on a blackboard. Louise is a delightful and attentive hostess and in general the service is very good. It's lovely to eat outside in the garden on good days and inside it's warm and cosy with striking artwork on the walls. Go and eat there - you will not be disappointed!
