“Lovely for a light lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2010

Lovely setting, friendly staff. They process their own meats and pates, all excellent. Full lunch is available but we have only ever had a meat platter or panini. The wine is good and the view gorgeous. On our list for at least a couple of visits when in Franschhoek.

“Fabulous swine and wine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2010

What a gem. I had read an article in Food and Travel magazine and was determined to come. Al fresco dining post a wine tasting with home made charcuterie. Truely I was in heaven. Amazing lunch - must book - great wines and wonderful waiting staff. One of my highlights of my holiday.

“Wonderfully laidback”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2010

We've had lunch here, on the terrace, on two occasions and have thoroughly enjoyed it - and can't wait to go back. The service is friendly and efficient, the food delicious - Neil Jewel's charcuterie platter is a must try with a glass of the Estate's bubbly. But the real magic in this place is the ambience and setting - amongst the vineyards and orchards, in the shade of oaks, surrounded by ponds and fountains. It is one of the most tranquil and laidback places I've been to in a long while - and an excellent spot to while away a summer afternoon, enjoying the food and the wine. A huge plus is that many wines are served by the glass.
A word of advice: Bread & Wine is very popular, you do need to book in advance, and do try to get a table on the terrace, I can't imagine that sitting inside would do the place as much justice.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2010

Myself and my husband have just returned from having lunch in Bread and Wine, all I can say is that is superb, the food fantastic. I had hake and mu huband had embok, food certainly up there with best ever experienced, service fantastic (especially our brilliant waiter Claude!) also wine tasting in room next door was very enjoyable, JP was a great character and very entertaining as well as knowledgeable about the wines!
If you are in Franschoek you simply must visit this plae, it is special!!

“Awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2010

Absolutely wonderful food and wine - such good value!
The staff are very friendly and recognised us when we came back for more - because we came back from Capetown pretty much just to return to Bread and Wine.
The wine is wonderful and the tasting room very relaxed for those that may feel intimidated by wine tasting.
Quite simply fantastic and I wish that I could eat there every day!
