“An amazing experience!”

What a great spot and what wonderful service! Jeff and Moz were amazing hosts, nothing was too much trouble!

The rest of the staff were great too - and very knowledgeable about the elephants and general wildlife.

The food was delicious, the luxury tents amazing, and the elephants were wonderful to interact with. You only realise how huge they are when you are standing right next to them.

My new wife and I stayed here for two nights as part of our honeymoon and we only wished we could have stayed longer.

Considering this place is in the middle of the African bush, you wouldn't expect to be this close to nature and still have the luxury of the Savoy. The rooms are under canvas with an all timber construction which gives a natural feel. You don't feel at all out of touch with the natural surroundings, especially with the wildlife making an appearance on your own private deck. This is on top of having all mod cons, a heated jacuzzi, a bathroom to die for, an additional outdoor shower, a fire place in the corner and a heated blanket for those cooler nights. Geoff, Moz and Collen along with Eric, Precious and Sharon made our stay one to remember, they made us feel at home and kept us all entertained for the evening. As for the elephants, Duma, Mukwa and Thaba, and their friendly guys Prince, Mishima and Tapiwa, they topped off our stay perfectly. You will never get closer to elephants than this. This is definitely an elephant experience which you will remember for a lifetime

“Downing Party”

A truly unique experience, our hosts Mos and Jeff could not have been more accommodating and it was great to share their wedding anniversary with them. Accomms are first class, under canvas but with all mod cons, lodge staff were great and could not do enough, the wild life experience included seeing lots of game beside the elephants. Highlight of course is riding and interacting with the 3 elephants - once in a lifetime experience. My only slight moan would be my rear end gave me stick for a couple of days afterwards - ellies have bony backs so be prepared!
Thank you Jeff and Mos - Sue Bennett

“Lifetime experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

We only had two nights/3days to stay here; wish we could have had more. This location undersells and overdelivers. The lodges are as far from a tent as you can get but still be under canvas. Even with mixed weather including wind and rain the lodge was dry and warm, with every mod con provided. I really liked being lulled to sleep by frogs and for once, loved lying awake in the morning listening to the birds and animals start up.
The food was provided by Moz, who describes it as "home made". Don't believe it, the food was consistently up to top restaurant standard. The meat was cooked in front of our eyes and was phenominal - succulent and tasty - I wish we could get this quality at home.
Meeting the elephants eating in the bush is a once in a lifetime experience; you feel very humble getting so close to these giants. For those woried about "tamed" animals, they were originally rescued from being culled and once the walking, riding and feeding with guests is finished, the elephants are free to roam untill nightfall. (I couldn't walk for a few minutes after riding - it's a man thing). The keepers obviously look after them well, have a great raport with then and an incredibly detailed knowledge of the animals and their habits, whch they will tell you about with great enthusiasm until you run out of questions.
Jeff manages the Lodge superbly and is very perceptive in knowing what guests want to see - almost all the usual african animals are there in scenic mountanous environment. We found the Zebras and Wilderbeasts a little timid - it may have been the weather. The baby giraff is such a sweetie and the mad giraff attacking the windsock provided added entertainment.
Youngest of the crew was Mark the excellent pilot, who, due to the weather, turned out to be an excellent driver too. The drive is not for the faint hearted, so always take the flight if you can. Eating with everyone and hearing all the stories completes the whole experience, making you feel like you were staying with friends rather than paying guests. Wonderful.

“Great place to chill out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013 via mobile

Didn't know what to expect when we flew in for our three night stay .
We were met by Geoff who told us we were the only guests it being just after the Christmas holidays.
Our tented room was fantastic with outside shower and hot tub, very comfortable.
As we were the only guests we had our meals with the owners and guides and felt we learned every thing about the elephants and all the other animals on the reserve.
The elephant back safari was a fantastic experience and we really enjoyed walking with and feeding the elephants.
We did one game drive got really close up to the animals and took some great photographs.
On our last day it rained all day so we just just chilled out reading and lazing in the hot tub , we were so relaxed at the end you would not believe.
Meal times were spent in good conversation with the owners an staff , the food was excellent and plentiful .
We think this is a great place to stay and would like to thank everyone for making our visit a very memorable one.
