“THE BEST OF THE BEST, YOU HAVE GOT TO LOVE THIS PLACE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012

This family owned and operated motel is one of the nicest and cleanest places we ever stayed at. The staff is courteous, and their mission is to make you comfortable. We have been staying there every time we go to the Crest. We WILL BE BACK! Their rates are reasonable as comared to the other places we know of. One thing I noticed is that people were enjoying all the things to do there, shuffle board, ping pong, the play ground and the pool. This is a number one place for family orientated fun. Joe and Diane Sabol, Cleveland Ohio

Room Tip: Anywhere is a good place, just go there and you wont be dissappointed!

Nothing negative to say at all. We really enjoyed our stay. Management was wonderful. Rooms and grounds are clean. Pool was nice. Very nice overall, repeat visit for sure. 2011 was the first year we stayed at the VIP and we will be back.

Our family had a great stay at the VIP - we come every year and always have a great time. Unfortunately this year there was a party pooper on the 2nd floor who felt that enjoying the patio, having a few beers and a few smokes are things one is not supposed to do on vacation. Our family did not use "all of the tables" - we only used 3 (and at least 6 others were left available - cramming 30 Italians around only 3 tables is a feat that should be commended!). And our shade cover wasn't a "tent" or a "gazebo" or even in the way for that matter - it was a 10'x10' shade cover used to protect our glowing white babies from the sun - guess said party pooper doesn't think that's a good idea either. Maybe if said party pooper on the 2nd floor took advantage of the awesome beds they have at the VIP and had some sexy time they would have had a much more enjoyable stay - like we did!

Stayed at the VIP Motel for 4 days. Our party of 7 had adjoining rooms so we had access to extra beds and a second bathroom. The rooms were clean and the kids loved sleeping on the Murphy bed (first one I had ever seen.). Full size refrigerator in the kitchen. Friendly, helpful, courteous staff. Clean deck and pool area (kids loved the new diving board). The gas grille got a lot of use. Concerts in the park across the street, movie night on the pool deck. All the amenities needed for an enjoyable vacation, minus the extra (but unnecessary) frills. I would certainly recommend the VIP.

I want to preface this by saying that we traveled with a toddler and an infant and this was a last minute booking for us (most customers book their next year's trip at the time of the check out).

Note to those traveling with small children - request first floor accommodations if available. The model only has 2 floors and the second floor is not suitable for children under 5 (the railings on the fence are way too wide apart and kids can actually fall in if left unsupervised). In addition, all motels / hotels with less than 3 floors do not have elevators (that's a city regulation or something of sorts as I've been told by the owners). I had to carry the stroller and all other luggage up and down the stairs, along with my 2 year old and an infant. I'm surprised we haven't been told that the place has no elevator as we notified the front desk that we're coming with an infant at the time of the booking... I suppose this was the only room available and it was a quick way to make up for someone's cancellation during the 4th of July week....

Pros: Good location, very nice owners, fun atmosphere. Could be an ideal place if one has low expectations.

Cons: Very loud air conditioning unit. Also, air conditioning is positioned right on top of one of the beds in the bedroom, making it impossible to sleep without getting a cold. Units are rather small. The pullout couch is very uncomfortable. Lack of a kitchenette could be a problem since the only sink available is the bathroom sink.

Bottom line: We loved Wildwoods and will definitely be back but we will be staying in a "high rise" hotel, which there are plenty. We extended our stay by a week and left VIP for another hotel a block away and the experience has definitely been a lot more pleasant.

Nat_Lov: I'm very sorry to read that us not having an elevator was such an inconvenience for you and your family during your stay. None of our literature states that we have an elevator and it is not something that we tell customers as they are booking (we do ask floor preference when taking reservations; however when you booked, the room you received was absolutely our only room available). If you were having difficulty bringing your stroller and bags up the stairs with your children you could have asked one of our office staff for assistance. We do not offer a Baggage Service but we will gladly help any customer in need of help while moving into or out of their room. I am also very sorry that you were not satisfied with your motel room. Out of our 30 rooms, 24 of them DO have Kitchenette's which include a double-stove top burner, full-size refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, toaster, cabinets that contain all the cooking AND eating utensils, AND a Kitchen Sink. Most of the motels in Wildwood were built in the Doo-Wop 1960's era and have maintained their original railings, thankfully, since our opening in 1965, it has NEVER been an issue. Sorry you feel that us renting you your room was a "quick way to make up for someone's cancellation during the 4th of July week", as that is NOT the case; we could have rented the room a thousand times that week to a family who would have enjoyed themselves. I hope you enjoyed your stay at the other hotel a block away, as those hotels DO have elevators and are MUCH larger than us. I hope you enjoy future stays in Wildwood.

This was our first time at The VIP Motel in Wildwood Crest, NJ. We booked their suite on the second floor and absolutely loved it. Sure the decor can use a facelift, but the overall motel was incredible. We went with two other families......6 adults and 6 children total. We all enjoyed what the motel offered. Our boys LOVED the pirate ship to play on along with the playground. If you are looking for a great family oriented place in Wildwood Crest.....then this is it. We are all talking about booking again next year.
