“good stay in wildwood”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

I've been staying here for 3 years now for bike week with friends. The location is great. We generally hang out on the sun deck and watch the bikes cruising by while we throw back a few cold ones. The rooms are always clean and the fridge is a good size to keep our drinks cold. If you are looking for the Sheraton or Hyatt, then you better look somewhere else. This is a little place at the beach and if you're used to coming to the shore then you know what I mean by that. Steve the manager is always helpful with our reservations and telling us whats happening in town once we check in.
If you are looking for a clean room in the heart of all the action at a great price then, you are in the right place.

Last June about 60 of my friends and I choose the Tropicana as our spot to come down after our prom weekend. We primarily choose the Tropicana because of its location to the beach and boardwalk. We got dropped off by the party bus about 2 am and did not have too many cars to get around, so location was very important. It was easy to make the reservations and we had email receipts of everything to show my friends the cost. A couple of rooms had to pay for minor damage out of their security deposits but nobody cared. The rest of our school stayed somewhere else and had problems getting their deposit back. This year we are working with Steve from the Trop the book the whole place after prom. Hes a great help in planning our large group. Can't wait to get back to Wildwood. Prom 2013!!!!!!

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Tropicana for two nights and it was perfect. When we arrived after our long drive (around 1pm) the room was ready. Steve welcomed us with a friendly smile. Due to it being the fall and not many guests being at the property we got great customer service from housekeeping and the manager. Steve is very friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations. The location is by Morey's Piers and the carnival on the boardwalk. We had a great time in Wildwood.

Room Tip: Ask the front desk for Beach Creek Restaurant drink vouchers.

The hotel manager Jeff was great and very helpful. The hotel was only a few steps away from the boardwalk. It's not a 5 star hotel but it's Wildwood we came for the beach and boardwalk not to stay in the room all day. At night people got a little loud but you could not hear them when you were in the room. Jeff was always on call all the time, we got locked out of our room and he was there to help in 2 minutes. The price was the best I found for such a great location.

This motel was horrible the manager Jeff was vey rude and unprofessional. the sheeting on the bed had stains the towels and wash cloths had hair everywhere. The televison and air conditioning contioniously cut on and off there were roaches crawling on the dresser. the motel also fails to tell you about hidden charges such as extra taxes and made up fees.

This hotel would probably not make it in a big city, of course. But for a hotel a block from the beach, we found it to be a good value...especially since we got kicked out of The Riviera, a block away, at midnight the night before for complaining about not being able to access the Internet service when we paid $150 for the hotel for one night (but that's another review).

The hotel has no handicapped access and no rooms without stairs. But the rooms are big, especially for beach rooms. And we paid $60 per night (the manager charged the same rate as expedia, even on a Friday night, without the $27 expedia tacked on for our first night there).

There is no phone in the room. And yeah, the manager was pretty scarce when we were there (the season starts in July; we were there in June). We called his number posted on the door a couple of times and he was back in the office by the time we went back downstairs.

I think the attitude of all the hotel owners/managers (most are mom & pop) at Wildwood is: "Take it or leave it; we have enough business that if you don't like it, we really don't need yours." And there's little recourse for complaints since they're not part of big chains. To our chagrin, we found that all hotels in Wildwood closed their offices at 10 p.m., which was a nightmare since we arrived after that and without reservations. I did notice the "Be nice or be gone" sign in the office, as well as a very prominent "No Refunds!" sign.

The rooms included a microwave and refrigerator and adequate air conditioner. They were clean, the sheets were clean, we got housekeeping service. The TV had a good selection of channels and either dish or DirecTV satellite. We liked it enough to stay an extra night.

The manager did tell us when we booked to stay an extra night that that night, Friday, a bunch of teenagers were coming in, and that only 4 were allowed per room, and that he tended to keep a pretty close eye on them. And that night, I did see him sitting outside to make sure everything was going okay. He told us the following night he was packed with another bunch of teenagers because it was prom night, which is really pretty sad. I was concerned about our peace and quiet with a hotel of teens turned loose at the beach, but either he managed them well or they were a courteous bunch of kids (hey, teens often are), because we didn't hear a whole lot more than we had the night before.

The hotel doesn't have a pool, but if you want to use one, you just go to the mom-and-pop-hotel across the street and show your key and you can swim there.

Our experience there was delightful and within our budget. It's not a chain and doesn't have bend-over-backwards management. And thankfully for the rest of his guests, he doesn't have a real lenient attitude about kids going to the beach to get drunk (which actually was a very good management attitude for the rest of the guests). But I'd go there again in a heartbeat.

I was booked for 2 nights in this motel. When I arrived late at night, the motel was already closed and nobody was in the front desk. They had a sign on their front door that had a phone number to call for 'emergency,' but nobody answered. I had to look for another place in the middle of the night. The following morning I called them, and their rude response was, "we are not a big chain hotel, so nobody's here 24/7, and if you really had an emergency you should call 911." Is that an appropriate response??! I was disgusted with their service that I decided to just forfeit my booking. DO NOT BOOK HERE. I saw their property and was appalled with it. Probably a 1.5 star than a 2 star.
