“Super Nice Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

Fast, friendly check-in. Very courteous and helpful front desk. We only stayed for one night, but if I ever visit Vineland again, this is where we will stay, We met the head of housekeeping, who was very concerned that our room was to our satisfaction. Maintenance staff was friendly and the property was very well maintained.
Our room was spacious and very clean and all was as advertised. Breakfast was plentiful and once again served by very friendly staff. If you need dinner or lunch, there is a Bennigan's about 100 feet from the front lobby door. You can place a take-out order by your room phone direct access.
The only negative for the hotel was that the whirlpool door was not locking properly and that the whirlpool console itself was out of order.
All in all a great stay...

Room Tip: If you want a room away from families with small children, frat parties etc...ask.

this is the second time I stayed , last time just a regular room this time a suite.
I was very impressed with the room it had a jacuzzi, and a stand in shower that was very roomy, frig and microwave and the bed was oh so soft .... . Breakfast is great, hot and cold well stocked, and the front desk is very pleasant.
I had 2 little ones with me and when asked for more blankets and towels got plenty more and used them all. the kids enjoyed the pool and hot tub ... It is located close to lots of things my son was racing at the park and it was close to that too. Will definatley stay there again when in the area ...

Room Tip: the suites are the best but all rooms are great

In town for a 2 day swim meet and decided to stay overnight to avoid a 50+ mile drive home and return at 7AM the next morning. The hotel itself, while advertised as renovated in 2011, does seem to be showing some wear in the rooms, but overall was very nice. We had a suite with a hot tub, sofa bed, and it was really roomy for the six of us. We had a couple of swimmers with us who were kind of cramped on the smaller beds so they provided us with a rollaway as well.

Why do they only provide 3 towels for a room with an occupancy of 6?! The only negative here was calling for extra towels and then again for extra bedding (rollaway was delivered with none). Both times it took quite awhile for someone to arrive.

Breakfast is really the standard fare one finds at the "free breakfasts" for this type of chain.

Check-in was smooth and efficient - staff was very friendly.

Didn't use the outdoor pool (enough swimming at the meet!), but there was a smoking area right next to the pool, which was right next to the back door of the hotel. Each time we went through there were a couple of people smoking there.

This hotel is convenient, comfortable, and the staff friendly. The room was clean and neat. The breakfast good. Everything exactly what you want for a family trip. The only downside was the pool that had leaves in it; but we grabbed the filter screen and in 5 minutes of work, all was well. It also helped to have a really nice family restaurant (Bennigan's) right next to the hotel, an easy walk. We would highly recommend this to anyone.

Hotel is very nice, very reasonable rates, not too far from the Jersey Shore.

Just one thing.....Try to get an even numbered room. We had an odd numbered room, the rooms face the front of the building, it also faces Benegans. Benegans has green lights, no matter how you fix the curtains the glow comes into the room.
Besides that, great room, Nice staff, and a very good breakfast.

Room Tip: Even Number Room !!!! Green Benegan's glow on the odd

My friend booked this hotel for a one-night getaway with the kids to the beach. We were only staying Friday night so we were put in a less desirable room by the elevators, which was fine. I did not hear any noise all night. The big issue was the air conditioner. Clearly, when we walked in from dinner, it was not cool enough in the room. This should have been noticed by housekeeping and directedto maitenance. We had two young boys with us and did not want to disrupt their one night to switch rooms. The air ran all night and I was comfortable but my friend was hot (I slept closer to the blower). The rooms definitely need an update, but I did not notice anything particularly dirty, especially for one night.
On the plus side, the beds were very comfortable and double sheeted. Nice touch. Also plenty of pillows.
Only an outside pool, which we did not use. It does have anindoor hottub, which was also nice. Just peaked in.

Breakfast was better than average, with fruit, eggs and bacon, make your own waffles. Very similar to the Hampton Inn breakfast.

I would recommend staying here. It served the purpose.

Hello,

Thank you very much for your comments. We want you to know because of comments like yours we will be undergoing several property upgrades over the next several months. Sometimes it's not enough to provide spottlessly clean rooms and exceptional guest service. The product also needs to improve. Thanks again!

Let me start by saying we stay at this property at least twice a year, and have been doing so for about 5 years. We always call the hotel directly to make our reservation because in the past, everyone you ever spoke to was really nice! The hotel is typical of this brand and we always enjoyed staying here. The breakfast used to have good variety. The refridgerator and microwave in the room are nice to have over a 2 night stay. The rooms are starting to show some wear and tear, especially in the bathrooms which are in serious need of removing the old grout and caulk around the bathtubs because the mildew stains are gross and smelly (probably water getting behind the walls & molding). A couple years ago it was hit or miss if you got a bad bathroom, now they all seem to be that way except for the handicap room we were assigned to on the 4th of August. Guess it doesn't get used as much. We did not ask for that room. The shower is perfect for someone who needs to sit on the shower bench they provide for the bathtub. But as you would expect, the shower head is located at your midriff & can't be moved/adjusted for a standing position, so you have to hold the shower head to stand under the shower. What has recently changed at this hotel is the military discount. The hotel no longer gives a discount to military personnel on leave who show an active duty ID card. You must have a "work order" (their words, not ours) to receive a federal gov't discount. We've never heard "work order" used in federal gov't / military travel so asked the front desk person we talked to when making the reservation what it was or looked like. She said she didn't know. We explained to her that leave orders are available, is that what the hotel is referring to as a work order? Again, she didn't know. So, we asked her how she would know if she was looking at the correct documentation at check in to verify charging the government rate. She said "if you don't have a work order, then you will not get the government rate & I will be here the day you check in & I'll be sure you don't get a discount". Wow! We finally called the 800 number for corporate and they were able to find out that a "work order" at that Wingate means official government travel orders. While we appreciate the discount being available to government workers on official government travel which saves taxpayers dollars, usually the military discount provides service members a better rate for hotel stays while they are home visiting family, attending funerals, etc. because that's money directly out of their pocket, not reimbursed by the federal government as is official travel. Fortunately, someone from the Hampton Inn next door called in sick on the 4th, so ms. rude had to go work there. Yes, the Hampton Inn is managed by the same person, so if you have a problem with a rude employee, you may encounter them at either hotel. We will note that the front desk clerk on duty at the Wingate on the afternoon of Aug 4 has always been really nice, we were happy to see her even though she was really swamped! On another reservation fiasco, when the derecho storm hit the northeast the night of June 29, we had reservations to arrive at this hotel on Saturday June 30th. We woke up that morning to no power, as did most everyone in the Mid-Atlantic including south jersey where this hotel is located. We couldn't even get a phone call to go through to the hotel or to the 800 number by cell or land lines, and internet was down as well. When we finally got through by phone on Sunday, the desk clerk had the nerve to cop an attitude about "not canceling before 6pm on date of arrival so you can't get your money back"! They had no electricity or phones and still expected us to check in!! How would that have even been possible with electronic key cards? We've had many occasions to laugh when a hotel loses power, and guests leave the room, close the door behind them, then are frustrated to find they can't get into the room until the power comes back on! I can believe Phil692 and the smoke detector review because ms. rude was probably on duty that night. So, for $120 a night (AAA discount), this property is not the value it used to be.

Room Tip: Rooms at the end of the hallway may be a little quieter. Room 215 was a handicap room, not sure if...
