On June 27th of June, my wife and I decided to try out a new sushi take-out
restaurant down the street from where we spend our summers in Surf City, NJ.
Like most new sushi restaurants, we were cautious upon entering; however after a
quick scan of the sushi bar and not a hint of fishy odor we immediately knew
that we had discovered a good thing. There are 4 stools at the sushi bar
because most of their business is take-out. Fortunately the two of us were able
to sit at the bar and enjoy a bottle of wine that we had brought along with us.
After placing our order for Tuna & Avocado without rice, Salmon & Avocado, and
Soft Shell Crab (spider) Rolls we were stunned by the amazing presentation that
Chef Francisco Ramirez put together for us. The plates were served New York
style w/ Zig-Zags of a variety of sweet and spicy sauces including a Thai hot
sauce that will make your mouth water!
We found the portions to be generous, creative and Nobu fresh. The dining
experience was a pleasant surprise for a restaurant off the beaten path in the
quaint beach community of Surf City, NJ.
Chef Francisco started in Northern NJ & then worked in Atlantic City before
opening Little Sumo's Sushi Shack in Surf City. Francisco has a passion for
freshness, quality, and creativity - - - and his pleasant personality is the
icing on the cake for the ideal sushi experience without breaking your bank and
without having to travel onto the mainland!
