“A Cozy Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2005

This was our first stay at a B&B and we very very happy with our experience. The rooms was very nice, and clean and the breakfast was outstanding. We would highly recommend staying at the Evergreen again and look forward to our next stay.

Evergreen Inn is just as advertised on their website (-----), but also includes some "extras" that weren't advertised, such as complimentary snacks and coffee, bikes, beach chairs, beach towels, video library, guest fridge, etc. The guest rooms and public areas are well-maintained and very clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

The b&b is about a mile from the beach, but there's plenty of free parking at the b&b and at the beach. Unless you're staying within 1-2 blocks of the beach, you'd want to drive so you could bring beach chairs, umbrella, drinks, towels, etc., so it's really not a big deal to be a mile away.

The innkeeper prepares a large breakfast every morning and is VERY accomodating with any special needs, such as kosher food. Just let her know in advance and she'll do whatever she can to make you comfortable. Laurie went out of her way (on short notice) to accomodate our dietary needs.

We arrived close to check-in time @ 3 PM and were met by Laurie, one of the friendliest people you'll ever meet. We greatly appreciated her wit and her attention to details to make our stay wonderful. She greeted us with snacks and an offer to use the bathroom, then produced beach tags and room key. She gave us a tour of the facilities and pointed out all the amenities provided. After dropping off our gear, we borrowed a couple bicycles and a boogie board and rode the flat, easy 1 mile ride to the beach. (Note--driving to the beach is VERY easy and there's always free parking right next to the boardwalk, so don't be daunted by the "1 mile" distance.) We spent the afternoon body surfing and walking on the beach, then returned to shower, change and go to dinner.
Our room was facing a major road, but we did not hear any traffic noise. The room itself was wonderful--queen size bed (very comfortable), double whirlpool bath in the room, a private toilet, sink, and shower bathroom, a gas fireplace, room air conditioner and private balcony.
We woke early to take the bikes out for a ride around the town, then returned for breakfast. The meal was delightful--we ate enough to last us until dinner.
We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend the Inn to anyone interested in a relaxing, romantic vacation.

Recently spent 2 nights at the Evergreen Inn. The good things:
The price is very reasonable for what you get, especially when the weekday discount is in effect.
Breakfasts are good and sinful!
The sleeping rooms and common areas are as clean as clean gets.
The innkeeper, Laurie, is reasonable and flexible. She seems to know what people are looking for and pays attention to the small details, such as providing reasonably priced cold drinks, beach chairs, etc. We NEVER felt nickled and dimed, making the price even more reasonable.
The only thing less than ideal is the actual location within Spring Lake. The inn is not quite within a reasonable walking distance to the beach, although in fairness, Laurie does not insinuate that it is. If you want to be able to roll out of bed and stroll down to the beach before breakfast, this is not the right place. Parking at the beach is free is widely available (for real), so this is not a huge concern unless you wanted to be right at the beach. The drive door to door is less than 5 minutes. Spring Lake is NOT typical Jerzee Shore - it is everything that Belmar is not and that is good!!
