“Looking forward to another stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

We really enjoy Spring Lake & were excited to try the Travelzoo promotion.
The Hewitt Wellington is a small hotel that looks & feels like a B & B.

The staff was incredible. They made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived.
The room was bright, cheerful, spacious, and very clean. The bathroom was large & appeared to be recently updated.
The hotel has a small, heated, pool & offers continental breakfast.
A fabulous coffee machine, available all day & night.
And, a wide selection of teas.

We sat on the porch, sipping coffee & enjoying the beautiful views of Spring Lake.
We took long leisurely walks around the lake which sat across the street.

We ate at, Whispers, the restaurant connected to the resort.
The food was incredible.
The atmosphere was intimate, romantic & charming.
I would have been satisfied if my appetizer was my main course which consisted of pan seared scallops with an orzo salad. The blend of flavors made my palette very happy.
I was served the most tender & delicious veal for dinner.
My husband thoroughly enjoyed the lobster special.
The staff was very knowledgeable, professional, friendly & attentive.
It was worth every penny.

Thank you for sharing the details of your most recent stay!

We're glad you were able to enjoy all of the great perks the property has to offer. From the pool, to the breakfast, and even the coffee, we're very happy you found everything to your liking.

We have done many upgrades to the property over the past few months, and we've gotten a lot of great feedback from our guests, especially on this site. All that does is reinforce the good experiences each guest has with us, so thank you.

I have also passed along your kind words to our restaurant and their staff, and they were very happy to hear that you enjoyed your experience with them.

Once again, thank you for sharing the details of your experiences with us. We hope to see you again soon! Take care!

We celebrated my birthday in Spring Lake and truly enjoyed our stay at the Hewitt Wellington. The room/suite was a great size with a separate living area and porch. It was immaculately clean and I appreciated, as silly as it sounds, the nicely sized bath towels. The hotel location was perfect and scenic - just across from the lake, and just a scenic 10 minute walk to the lovely town. Also, the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definately go back. The only issue was the mattress and the size of the bed. We would have thought a suite should have a queen sized bed and the mattress was way too soft and lumpy - we sank into the middle of it and pillows - not so great. The only suggestion, therefore, I would have is that upgrades are needed for, at least the room we stayed in (room 2) on the mattress and pillows. Other than that, check out the Hewitt Wellington, but specify you'd like a room with a firm mattress, if that is your thing.

Room Tip: If you prefer a firm mattress and a larger bed, ask for them. Other than that, room 2 was lovely, e...

Thank you for sharing the details of your most recent stay with us!

We hope you had a great birthday! From all of us here, we want to you wish you a happy birthday, and many more to come.

We appreciate the details of your review, especially for future guests. Over the past few months, we have been installing new mattresses in most of the rooms. Mostly King-sized beds. We do have some more rooms left to update with new mattresses. We strive to make sure all of our guests are comfortable, and enjoy every aspect of their stay with us. Along with the many other upgrades we have made, mattresses are also being upgraded.

We are very happy that you have listed room tips for future guests. They are great tools to have when you are searching for the best hotel to visit.

Once again, thank you for sharing your experience...and Happy Birthday! Have a great day!

My husband and I had a thoroughly enjoyable visit to the Hewitt Wellington for our 37th Anniversary. The room was comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful and the location was delightful. Our suite was sunny and had a delightful view of the lake. We were very happy with our choice and it is certainly not their fault that we were not in Ireland like last June. You can't beat this for New Jersey!

Room Tip: Our third floor suite was lovely and worth the stairs.

My husband and I recently stayed at your hotel. I am writing to tell you how impressed we were with your hotel – from the suite, breakfast, pool and staff – we really enjoyed our stay. Your staff were very accommodating – in particular – Nicole at the Front Desk. Rest assured – we will be back – hopefully soon! Well done.

This is a very charming hotel that is located close to the beach and boardwalk in Spring Lake, NJ. Hotel staff were friendly and made our stay enjoyable. Room was spacious, but could use some minor touch ups, as with any older hotel. The morning continental breakfast was perfect and the coffee machine does make a good cup of coffee and hot chocolate. We didn't get a chance this time to visit "Whispers", the superb restaurant located in the hotel. If you have a chance and are celebrating a special occasion, don't miss having dinner at this restaurant.

Room Tip: We had chosen room 25, which is located on the third floor towards the back of the hotel. This is a...

Thank you for sharing the details of your most recent stay with us!

We appreciate the kind words, and the recognition of our cleanliness. Our housekeeping department works extremely hard, and they appreciate the acknowledgement of that.

Whispers, the on-site restaurant, is a popular choice. We're happy that you also visited them during your stay.

Once again, thank you for sharing your experience. Have a great day!
