Food is really tasty! This is one of those hole in the wall places where you don't expect very much atmosphere wise and the real reason you go is for the food. My girlfriends and I went for lunch and we sat near the buffet. Buffet is not large but it does have a pork, beef and chicken dishes with of course black beans and rice, plantains, salad and some kind of dessert (flan in this case). It did not look real appetizing (or pretty) so I decided to order off the menu. I had a Cuban sandwich which was totally delicious. Two of the other girls had the buffet. My friend said "you have to taste this"....I tasted everything, the pork, the chicken, the beef and the beans and rice.....even the salad. Everything was super delicious to say the least...so forget what it looks like...taste it! Just remember this is not a gourmet restaurant where you get the little orchids on the side of your plate. Their salad had cilantro in it and I am not a fan but I have to say that was tasty also...I can take cilantro in small doses. I ordered a "milk cake" for dessert since I had been told this is something very good.....it was.....soooooo delicious I went home immediately and found a recipe for it on the internet...I have to make it. Another super feature is that this is a BYOB and the prices are very affordable...a really good find. With regard to service it was very slow so if you are smart, do the buffet and bring your own wine and beer. My daughter, Jodi, had a really good suggestion as time to go there....in Somerville they bring out the old cars on the main street on Friday evenings...bring your beer or wine and then go to Martino's. That would be a great affordable evening. I suggest a reservation as they do really get packed...even at lunch - go early...you will enjoy!
