“I found my new favorite place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013 via mobile

Just arrived home from a night at Colonial Inn.We stayed in the Johnson suite room 201.It was more than I hoped it would be. It is so warm and cozy.It has an adorable front porch with two rocking chairs and a back porch with two more chairs. It also has two electric fireplaces which adds to the comfy feeling. We enjoyed it so much and didn't want to leave that we requested a late check out.

“Beautiful, comfortable, hospitable!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

Everything about our stay here was wonderful. The booking/check-in process was simple and fast - plus free cookies and coffee at check-in! The room was large, rustic but sophisticated, and comfortable. We stayed at "the Barn" property, which is a little removed from the main Smithville Village area, and it was very quiet and private. Historic Smithville Village was fun to explore, with lots of cute shops and places to eat. You couldn't spend more than a day or two in the "village" itself, but there are plenty of attractions nearby (AC is an easy drive).

The Colonial-style accommodations/decorations were tasteful and added to the charm of our stay. The owners and front desk staff were friendly and helpful. We had no problem accessing wifi from upstairs in the Barn (but not on the ground floor) and from in the cafe. The free coffee and tea all day was *great*, and the shortbread afternoon snack is a nice touch. Breakfast was a muffin, juice, coffee, and yogurt - plenty for me, not enough for my boyfriend, who bought milk (kept in the mini-fridge in the room) and cereal at the CVS on the corner to supplement. There was cable and a DVD player, although we chose to unplug for a more romantic weekend!

I cannot recommend this property enough! We will definitely return!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Barn property upstairs in Room 304, where we had no problem accessing wifi and wher...

“A Merry Christmas at the Colonial Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

We found out a few days in advance that we were upgraded to the Leeds Room, a larger room with jacuzzi, king bed, and separate tile shower from our originally booked Noyes Room because we were frequent customers. Also, our confirmation letter included a handsome Christmas tree ornament!
We do indeed frequently stay here because my parents live a very short distance away and it's convenient to stay here. The inn continues to provide us with very clean accommodations, comfortable beds, and an airy room with cathedral ceilings and a lake view that's warm and cozy at night. Breakfast is served in the Inn's dining room, or we typically bring it to our room where there is a table for two. Coffee is served in the hallway and is pretty much unlimited. Breakfast of muffins, yogurt, coffee, and orange juice is fresh and substantial enough. The people at the front desk and inn are still as welcoming and friendly as can be.

We look forward to our next visit!

“Absolutely Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

This is the best B & B we have ever been too. We had Johnson Suite 202 which is beyond words lovely. The suite is so warm, homey and inviting. The bathroom with the great tub and unbelievable shower---worth the visit alone.

The Living Room and Bedroom each have their own TV and Fireplace---so gorgeous. The bed is not only outstanding, but so comfortable. Breakfast is delicious.

If you have never been to Smithville you have really missed something. We have never been away from home and family on Christmas Eve and Christmas, but this year we selected The Colonial Inn and it was one of our best holidays ever.

We enjoyed a great lunch at the Smithville Inn with a table by the window overlooking the lake. The village and shops were all lighted and decorated so beautifully. At 5:30 p.m they had a lighted Tree show on the lake which was fabulous.

This was a perfect holiday thanks to The Colonial Inn---a place that we will visit more often. Thank you!

Room Tip: Select one of their suites.

“Hidden Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

Stayed at the Colonial Inn after a bridal shower held in Historic Smithville, NJ. The Inn has rooms throughout the property. Our room was in the newest section called The Barn, located on the perimeter overlooking the "village". Beautifully decorated, excellent bedding (we had a room with 2 queens), HUGE bathroom, all spotlessly clean! It was perfect for my daughter and I. There are different room types available depending (suites, kings, etc.) You can view a number of the rooms on their website. Continental breakfast is included in the rate and you can either enjoy it in the little cafe onsite, or take it back to your room. There was a mini-fridge and coffeemaker, as well as small table & chairs in our room. Loved the electric fireplace! A perfect place to stay to enjoy the shopping, the nearby beaches and-- you are about 20 minutes north of Atlantic City! Historic Smithville is less than 10 minutes from the Garden State Parkway exit 48.
Historic Smithville is a "village" made up of little shops and restaurants, with a lake dividing it. There are paddle boats available along with a carousel and mini Steam Train. The shops offer something for everyone. You can have a quick meal at a couple of places, "Pub Grub" at Fred & Ethel's (with a full bar and beer on tap) or for elegant dining, the Smithville Inn.
The Colonial Inn and Historic Smithville are always decorated for the seasons...but Christmastime is especially beautiful! Don't miss it!

Room Tip: The Barn is quieter, but still just steps away from the Village.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review! You really nailed it with your overview of Smithville! It's all the things we love so much about being here. You totally get what we were going for with the Barn, just a little removed so you have your own space but still walking distance from everything. Seeing people discover and enjoy Smithville is my favorite part of this job, thank you for writing this and reconfirming that we are getting it right.
Your friend at Smithville,
Tracy
