“Hidden Gem at the Jersey Shore!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2011

Just returned from an overnight stay in the carriage room at the Colonial Inn. The facility and staff were amazing from start to finish. Room was almost brand new, clean(spotless), bed was perfect as well. Roman steam shower was world class! Location is not to be beat. The shopping right out your front door is fabulous. Atlantic city only a short ten minute drive. Food stores, restaurants, pharmacies all within a short walk from the inn. Free breakfast included was a nice bonus. Served in a basket so you can sit by the lakefront deck! If you are in the area, don't miss this one! Hard to beat!

Thank you so much for the wonderful write up. It really means a lot to us that you enjoyed your stay here at the Colonial Inn, we try hard :). If you're planning to return to the Colonial Inn or even just the Village don't forget about our wonderful light show on the lake during the holiday season! It is over 120 Christmas tree's made from over 50.000 strung Christmas lights and when the sun goes down they dance to the music...you would love it!! Thank you again for taking the time to comment :)

“Immaculate B&B we would definitely return”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2011

My husband and I spent a night here and it was great. Room immaculate, mattress a little soft but that is my opinion. Breakfast of coffee, muffins, juice and yogurt. Friendly staff, we would definitely return.

Room Tip: We chose a room with a little back deck to enjoy our breakfast

“Another Great Visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2011

This is my 2nd annual trip to Colonial Inn and again, I loved it. The rooms are clean and the most comfortable beds and linens. Its like home. The breakfast is simple but all you need. The people are great, I think they take happy pills. I have never been greeted by such a friendly staff as this. If you need anything they go out of your way to help you. I now look forward to my stay at least once a year. Thank you for another great getaway.

“Not a real B&B: faux country inn surrounded by kitsch-ville”

The room itself was comfortable enough, but offering a mass-produced muffin and some coffee in the morning does not make you a bed & breakfast. I've stayed in many B&Bs and this is a sad imitation of a real B&B experience. You can get a much better breakfast at a Holiday Inn. The surrounding area is just a tourist trap full of junky gift shops and terrible food. If I hadn't been there for an event, I would never have chosen this soulless commercial nightmare. Would never go back!

We are sorry to hear you were disappointed with your experience here at Smithville and the Colonial Inn. Our continental breakfast of muffins, croissants, coffee or tea, orange, apple or cranberry juice and yogurt served in a country basket is not the home cooked meal that some bed and breakfast serve but we find most people enjoy it and like the option of eating on our outside deck, in the cafe, or at the nook in their rooms. There are many different types of Bed and Breakfast, just like there are many different types of people. We do aim to please, unfortunately it sounds like you and the Colonial Inn are not a good fit. The village that we are nestled in has long been a special place for so many people with the over 60 quaint shops , the carousel and train, Lake Meone and all the wonderful restaurants, I wish that it could have been a special memory for you as well. I hope you continue to visit Bed and Breakfast, I am sure there are many out there that will be suitable to you and your expectations.

“Excelent birthday getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2011

My girlfriend and I just stayed at the Inn Feb 2-4. We had a most relaxing time! I wanted to make her birthday something to remember and had no problem! The room we had was The Leeds Room. Very nice! King size bed, large soaking tub (that even my 6'2" height fit into) and steam shower with massage tops it off nicely! My girlfriend was very pleased! We will be back for sure!
