“One Night Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

This hotel blows most other Hilton Hotels away hands down. The Retreat provided a wonderful meal. The room was indeed my favorite hotel room in a long time. The indoor pool at this hotel was so amazing, I can not describe it. I will certainly return this four diamond hotel in the near future!

Room Tip: Suites are nice.

After a substantial drive, my wife and I spent Christmas Day y with family. Though space would be made for us, we wanted a quiet night by ourselves in preparation for the return trip. We caught a nice slack time rate and basked in the appointments and service. Graciousness abounded. For the first time in decades of marriage , we indulged by having our meals in our room- evening and morning.

Room Tip: Underground parking is nice; the HVAC units are QUIET-- what a welcome change.

I really didn't expect such a well furnished room. I really just expected a standard hotel room. But it was just great. The hotel staff was extremely helpful, and polite. Asking if there was anything that they could do to help me.

My mother and I called in the morning to find out the hours of afternoon tea. They told us, but forgot to say "reservation required," and without a reservation, they don't do it at all! Never heard of such a thing. Horrific customer relations. Disgusted with the whole thing, and it ruined our day.

Literally walking distance from the Short Hills mall and a short drive (30 minutes) from Newark airport and less than 10 minutes from Summitt (direct train to NYC) - very conveniently located. Plenty of covered parking. Good spa, fitness centre and pools (outdoor in summer)

Stayed here for business in Roseland. They offer a local shuttle but he does not go very far and it is no always free. For instance, a trip to the train station from hotel will run you $15. A car service to Roseland will run you $47 but they do let you charge to the room which is handy. The rooms are nice, clean, have decent toiletries available and have windows you can at least crack open. That's especially useful when the room gets hot and you want a fast cool-down. The hallways can be noisy- you can hear people talking but once people are in their rooms, it is quieter.

Room service was not great. I ordered hummus appetizer (a pitiful plate of pita bread and tiny scoop of hummus for $12), a side of broccolini and a slice of apple pie and tap water. Weird choices, I know (don't judge!) but over $40 with fees and such. The pie slice was large, though, and delicious.

It is close to short hills mall, walking distance even for a woman alone, so that's a plus. I would stay here again to shop but not for business. It's too far from Roseland and the car services are pricey. They do have an Avis on site but I didn't go that route.

Worse than the Homewood or Hampton. Gold member was expecting a complimentary upgrade, but at check in nothing was mentioned. Booked a package on internet which is different from the room+breakfast, but check in said they are not aware of such package, so ended up paying more for just room + breakfast.
Walk into a dated room with no pen/pencil, toothbrush/toothpaste, slippers.. Had to call few times for supply.. What a big disappointment. And I am still stuck here for two more days.
