“The Islander Motel is wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

We stayed at the Islander Motel in LBI for a long weekend. The new rooms (due to Hurricane Sandy) were wonderful. The bathrooms downstairs are bigger and the amenities are much nicer. The owners are so friendly. They added a basketball hoop, three tables and a grill outside to enjoy the evening hanging out. The motel is also only a block from the beach, 2 blocks from Wa Wa and Ron Jon's and only a few blocks from Speakeasy Pizza and Baggle Eddies, which are musts! Also, their prices are more economical than the other motels on the island. I would recommend staying there for sure.

Room Tip: The rooms on the bottom floor have a bigger bathroom and the rooms with the kitchenette are more con...

It was our first stay at The Islander and we were nothing but pleased with our experience. My wife and I have been visitors to LBI for years and I am pleased to say this is the best value on the island. The owner, Joe Clarke, is extremely nice and accommodating. He's also very knowledgeable of the surrounding areas for newcomers to the island. The updated rooms due to Sandy are very pleasant and cozy. My wife and I have already book our next trip to The Islander!

Room Tip: It's a smaller motel so any room, in my opinion, is a good room

Just back from another pleasant stay at Long Beach Island's best motel: The Islander. The rooms are recently remodeled due to damage sustained in Hurricane Sandy. Beautiful new furniture, flooring and bathrooms. The owner, Joe Clarke, will do anything for you. Great value. Stayed here many times. Two blocks to the ocean.

Clearly this is the best value in Long Beach Island. We were return customers from Tucson, AZ and were again very pleased. Its a clean family oriented motel and the owner is there to give the friendly helpful personal service that you don't see in other hotels these days. The beach is a short two blocks away and the motel is located conveniently to most anything you could want (bikes, food, etc) We'll be back again.

We always consult TripAdvisor before making any decisions on hotels. The reviews for The Islander were spot on and exactly what we expected...amazing value, outstanding owners, recently renovated and clean rooms and great location.

Value: more than 20% less than other comparable motels in LBI. Owners: helpful and so nice! They really go above and beyond. We brought a nice bottle of wine with us for my husband's birthday and asked for a wine opener. Not only did Joe get us an opener but Anne went to her kitchen and provided her own wine glasses to go along with it. Rooms: extremely clean and brand new. Location: walk down the block to the ocean beach with complimentary beach badges and around the corner to great restaurants (Raimondo's and The Arlington).

We have been visiting LBI for over 20 years but sold the family home last year. We had never stayed in a hotel / motel on the Island. The Islander was a very pleasant surprise and exactly what we were looking for a great weekend. We will definitely return.

I took my daughter to LBI for the day with one of her friends and decided to see if we might find a reasonable price on a room to extend our stay for another day. I wasn't looking for anything special, just a clean place for a good price. I tried a few places in Beach Haven, but they were really pricey. I expanded my search north to Ship Bottom and am so glad I did. I called and felt the rate was reasonable and the reviews on Tripadvisor were great. We arrived and were so pleased with our room on the 2nd floor. It was so clean and cheerful. We loved the location and the room had everything we needed - fridg, coffee maker, two comfy chairs and plenty of room. Joe made a breakfast recommendation that was wonderful and gave us beach tags for the next day. He could not have been more kind and helpful. We will be returning next summer for a longer stay and can't wait. So glad to have found this lovely motel.

We rarely stay for a weekend-usually always rent a house on the beach for a week-but decided to try a quick end of summer weekend. Came down on Friday night late and left late Sunday night.
This motel is not on the beach nor does it have a pool, but you are never far from the beach in LBI. What concerned us the most in choosing: Being safe, quiet and clean. Joe & Ann do a great job here. The entire place was revovated post-Sandy, and we were very happy there. If you have never stayed at the Jersey Shore, you would not understand that shore Motels are not Four Seasons no matter what you pay. This place was very nice, however.

Room Tip: The lowest floor is newest.
