This hotel is overpriced for many reasons. The location, the construction, the customer service, the list goes on. We booked this hotel through travel points, so I am glad I didn't actually hand over my credit card to them!! The lack of service started right when we walked through the door and checked in. The front desk staff looked up our reservation, then immediately told us what WASN'T available in the hotel. The new Starbucks (that is advertised as open on the poster inside the elevators) is not open and the swimming pool is under construction and is not open ( but they could bus us to a nearby hotel for a swim, but they didn't want to make a trip for just a couple people. We would have to make sure that there was at least 5 people in our group to make it worth their while).
They lady that served us was confused with our documents for the hotel booking as they were booked through a travel rewards company she had to go somewhere in the back and check with her manager to see if they were real or not.
Our rooms were clean, and I have to say the best thing about the hotel was the beds. They are absolutely the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept on!
So, in order to get anywhere past the parking lot of this hotel you must take a cab or the hotel shuttle. The shuttles run on some strange schedule that makes no sense, but if you are nice to the drivers, they will take you at anytime if you tip them! No problem, I will tip anyone for good service! So, leaving the hotel wasn't usually a problem, it's coming home from a long day in NY city that sucked! We would get back to the Seacacus bus stop sometime in the evening, but of course it would never be at the scheduled time that the shuttle was due to pick you up. Then the fight began. You had to call the front desk, and depending on who was working, they may or may not relay to the shuttle drivers that there was a pick-up to be done. The shuttle drivers were great and didn't mind picking us up because they knew we would tip them, but the front desk staff didn't like communicating with the drivers, so pick-up service was ridiculous to say the least.
The restaurant service in the hotel was another joke. 2 nights in a row we got the same waitress. The first night we asked her what kind of soup they had. She replies " oh, it has some white beans in it, you know what it's called" and walks away never to return to tell us what the actual name of the soup was! The next night we had her for a waitress again. (we asked what the soup was and to our surprise she knew! haha) Anyway, we ordered our food and all but 2 of the orders came about 1/2 hour later. Keep in mind this is a restaurant with about 6 other customers besides us. So, she barely apologizes for the mistake in the order and tells us that she didn't want the 2 other orders to get cold and that's why she didn't have them for us then. (whatever) 25min later!!! the 2 meals arrive. The rest of us are now finished our meals, and the 2 other people in our party are starving! She puts down the plates, walks away and doesn't come back at all!! Finally she comes back with the bill, and here are all the meals on there including the late ones and an 18% gratuity added to the whole thing!!!! I am about ready to blow at this point , so I called the manager over, explained the whole thing (even adding the experience from the day before), so he took the 2 meals off the bill, reduced the rest of the bill by 20% and removed the 18% gratuity on top of that. I thanked him for his understanding and paid the bill and left the restaurant never to return again!
The construction is ongoing in this hotel and for 3 days in a row, they were drilling concrete somewhere in the building from about 7:30 am on! I will never recommend this hotel, I think for a Sheraton it is overated, and it's in the middle of nowhere! Hotel bookers beware!!
