After searching for a few weeks, we knew that we weren't going to land any great deals in the city so close to Christmas (December 22nd-29th). We stayed here for 1 night during our last visit in the fall, but moved to Manhattan for the rest of that vacation. From what we remembered, it wasn't that bad and figured the commute would be worth the savings.
The bus ride is about 25 minutes from the first bus stop (which is across the street from the hotel) and into Port Authority Bus Terminal. This is on a weekend, or in good traffic. For a lot of our stay, this bus ride turned into a 1 1/2 hour long ride.
On our first night, the woman who checked us in was quite rude and told us the reservation had been cancelled. My husband spent a very long time on the phone with the company we made reservations through, and they had to confirm with the hotel that nothing had been cancelled. Because of this 'lost' reservation, she put us in a smoking room and said we could ask in the morning for a non-smoking, but she wouldn't make any promises. This was really funny, because she could easily see who would be checking out and could guarantee us a non-smoking room.
We were placed in a handicap room with stained, ripped furniture. I found hairs in the sheets (after a very bad experience at another hotel, I have a habit of pulling back sheets before we climb in) and the bed was wrinkled - it looked like it was already slept in.
We called down to the front desk and magically, a non-smoking room cleared on another floor. We switched rooms right away.
Sheets seemed fresh and changed.
Small counter area with fridge and microwave.
Plenty of seating area with two t.v.s.
Suite is very large with a front seating area, hallway to sleeping area, and bathroom between the two rooms.
Good value for what we paid.
The breakfast has variety.
Bus to Manhattan.
Furniture in both rooms looks dated and stained. Needs a facelift!
On two occasions, room service helped themselves in the room. The first time I shouted "No thank you" through the door, the second time we left the "Do Not Disturb" sign in the door (yes it was still up) but she still came in.
Front desk staff is rude and not helpful. Apart from our check-in with the missing reservation, on one evening the internet wasn't working for hours. We finally called down and were told to wait for a tech person to come to our room. 2 hours later we called again, and the lady said "I don't know why they would say that - we don't do that."
Elevator wasn't working for one evening - it was very off and on.
On 2 floors they have a washer and dryer. 1 floor was totally out of commission, and the other only had a working washing machine. With no sign on the dryer we ended up with wet clothes. :)
Our room had 2 temperatures - hot and cold. The thermostat was broken and there was no way to find an equal balance.

I am sorry that you experienced any difficulties during your stay. We were in the midst of upgrading our wireless service and there were some hiccups during that time. Everything has been changed now and all is well. I have shared your comments with the staff and hope that we have no further concerns regarding service. Thank you for taking the time to point out areas where we can get better.
