“Great hotel for seeing New York”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It was really easy to get the bus from the hotel into NY City ($7.30 for a return adult ticket)
The room was wonderful. The bedroom was spacious with a nice view, big comfy bed, tv. Seperate lounge room with another TV and nice couches. The fridge and microwave were fantastic when bringing leftovers home for dinner! Good airconditioning. Regular hotel-sized bathroom with hair dryer. Full length mirror just outside bathroom.
We didnt get any noise in our room, so it was a lovely peaceful haven to come back to after a long day of sight seeing.

The included breakfast was great. There's a kitchen where you can line up to order any kind of eggs and also pancakes - and the rest is serve yourself buffet style. There's a few differnt "stations" though so have a look around when you eat there or you may miss something tasty (i didnt realise there were bagels or pastries till our second or third day!)

The pool and gym all looked clean and new. The hotel has a send-away laundry facility that you can pay for, or there's also a coin operated laundomat on the ground floor (you need your own detergent).

The staff were very friendly and helpful. They have bus timetables and maps of the nearby area available at reception. We asked them about what bus tours were available and they were able to give us a few suggestions. The Grey Line bus tour can collect you from the hotel at 8am (not sure if they can also arrange for getting back).

There are a lot of restaurants and cafes near the hotel which is really good, lots of variety. And there's a Walmart within easy walking distance.
Or if you're really tired in the evening there are some restaurants that offer free delivery to the hotel (menus in the hotel welcome book in the room).

I was under the impression we would get free wifi in the room, but "wifi available" actually just means it's available but you have to pay to use it. It's something like $16 a day, so we didnt use that.
There are 3 computers (one wasnt in use when I was there) in the lobby you can use if you need internet for anything though. I used it for some sight seeing research and it was fine. My husband tried to use it to check his emails and couldnt access it, so they might have those sites locked out.
They also have a printer there you can use.

Another thing to be aware of is there is no hotel shuttle to or from the airport, so it can be tricky getting to the hotel with large bags. We opted to use public transport instead of paying the $100+ taxi fare from JFK. It can be quite a bit of hassle so if you are older or have small kids it may not be the best option for you.

You just want the Airport Transfer bus to the Port Authority, and then the 320 bus to Seacaucus (you can see the hotel sign from the bus, about the 3rd one after the Park+Ride stop).
It'll be really helpful for you to download this bus timetable before you go because the bus leaves from different gates depending on the time :S
(http://www.njtransit.com/pdf/bus/T0320.pdf)
The Airport Transfer bus has a large luggage compartment in the back, and the public buses will need to open up space under the bus for large bags.

Room Tip: We had a room on the top floor with a "view" (wasn't breathtaking but was nice). Didnt...

We can get along without a full-length mirror in the room (though why should we have to in a modern facility like this?). But FOX News on a large screen during breakfast in the dining area is unacceptable. If I want to watch propaganda, I can choose that for myself. If the hotel wants to put on unbiased news, CNN is available. I was offended and let the manager know ... though he seemed to care less. I'll stay elsewhere next time.

Very pleased with our 4 night stay here at the Embassy Suites. Check-in was seamless. There is 15 minute parking at the door to drop off luggage and a multi storey car park next door which is free for hotel and restaurant patrons.

The rooms are typical for this Hotel Chain. The decor is a bit dull and boring, but OK. Large flat panel TV, room safe, plenty of clothes storage and a really comfortable King Size bed which was very much appreciated after walking around NYC all day!

Our corner room/suite had two bedrooms and a small kitchen and fridge which again is a good feature. My guess is that this area with several Hotels and a good choice of Restaurants has been especially created to attract visitors who would normally stay in Manhattan. If, so it is well done and will save you big bucks compared to a similar Manhattan Hotel, plus no or minimal noise in a "park like" and clean setting.

The very frequent 320 Bus which stops almost outside (50 yards) costs $3.95 and $1.80 for seniors takes about 20 to 25 minutes to the Port Authority Bus Terminal at 42nd Street where you can get the Subway or walk straight into the madness that is the big apple.

Finally, patrons get a complimentary breakfast which has a very good selection of food items and is topped off by the lady cooking the omelettes and pancakes which are really good. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: The Suites on Floors 7, 8 & 9 all seem to be pretty good.

The location is just perfect to visit NYC.
I chose this because Courtyard and Hyatt that are nearby were not available (Labor day weekend). Everything was good except:

1. Two out of three elevators were not working during peak breakfast time and there was a LOT of crowd to move. The stairs were blocked to enter the first floor.

2. The rooms(suites) were not ready even after 45 minutes after check-in time (check-in time 3PM) and the staff didn't care. They just stated the fact the rooms were not ready. Couldn't use the paid for room to shower/wash before heading into the city.

Great two room suite meant that kids were in one room and we were in the other. Breakfasts were excellent and, if you're back in time, you get a free drink and snacks at the bar (Happy Hour 5:30-7:30pm each night). Lots of places to eat within walking distance and the bus stop is right across the road. Frequent buses take you into the main bus station which is only two blocks from Times Square. Journey time is variable though - took 20 mins at 10am, 50 mins at 8am (when we were trying to catch a 9am tour bus). Although we didn't use them, the bus runs all night there'd be no problems if you stayed late in Manhattan. Also, the bus only makes a couple of stops on it's journey and that's mainly in the Park and Ride facility so I imagine it would be quite safe. Free parking at the hotel was also a great bonus.

Room Tip: Wouldn't pay extra for a view of Manhattan - it really is quite far away and you can't see a...
