With a menu heavy on sushi but with a few other intriguing choices, The Bistro has some offerings that will satisfy a group that is looking for a mixture of well-done options with a few misfires. On different occasions, I’ve tried an excellent gazpacho, bursting with flavor, a nice twist on lobster ravioli served with a lemon butter sauce that enhanced rather than hid the lobster, and a Kobe burger, that if they could cook it at the requested temperature, would be a fine version of what is now becoming a staple, but after two failed attempts I’ll skip it next time. The sushi is a mix of well-prepared standards and a few oddballs like the surf and turf roll (lobster inside/filet mignon outside) which proves to be interesting but not worth $18. The space is all stone which on a busy night makes for some noise, but if someone wants good sushi and others want something different this would be a good choice in Red Bank.
