This was my first visit to Blue Water. We had a 7:30 Saturday night reservation. I was warned by friends that the reservation meant little and I would have to wait at a nearby bar as there was no waiting area but surprising we were seated promptly.
The restaurant was crowded and we scored the last open table. We were seated on the second floor level.
This is a BYOB. Our wine was opened promptly and placed on ice.
Our server, Jackie, an Ashley Tisdale lookalike answered questions on the specials and menu items.
Our party of four ordered several appetizers, we requested the steamed clams be served raw and they obliged.
The standout was the sushi grade "Tuna Duo".
The "Mediterranean plate" special had excellent roasted eggplant, a nice hummus and a mountain of olives, this was okay but unless you really love olives you should pass on this one.
(Sorry I do not recall the what other appetizers were ordered.)
A Greek salad was ordinary.
The "New England Broil" brought a generous amount of scallops, shrimp, a single clam and crabmeat stuffed flounder. It was very good overall, but the flounder stuffing was disappointing as it was bland and very dry.
The broiled lamb chops were recommended to a non fish eater in the group. These were cooked perfectly and very well enjoyed.
The grilled "Large Shrimp and sea scallops" were similar to the N.E. Broil only with larger shrimp.
A Pad Thai special was good but it did not come have the flavor meld of an authentic Thai Restaurant.
A side order of garlic sautéed spinach was excellent.
I should note the different vegetable side dishes that accompanied each dish were NOT just an afterthought they were very well prepared, actually they were EXCELLENT ...... Kudos to the kitchen staff for raising what is sometimes a bland plate filler to a delicious accompaniment.
Desserts of tira misu and cheeses cake were very good.
Overall we all liked the experience. The server was excellent. The room was nice and the food was most very good. We would definitely go back again.
All entrees brought generous portions.
Dinner for four with tax and tip was around $285.
Blue water is kind of small and pretty loud. You sit very close to the next table and your outdoor voice is required to speak with your table mates.
