I try really hard to like this restaurant. Before they converted to the current "Italian Grill" theme, they had more of a "something for everyone" menu. I find the current offerings to be more limited.
The beers brewed on premises are fresh, tasty and creative....but....before they started brewing beer, they had an INCREDIBLE selection of beers from around the country and around the world. Which I preferred.
The bar's still a great place to hang out, with a good crowd. Live music some nights. The place is convenient, and there's usually more than enough parking.
The problem is, everything about this place is now just "ok", no aspects stand out. I've found that there are quite a few places to eat in Red Bank that are more compelling.
You WON'T HATE this place. I'd not discourage you from trying it. You can bring kids, no problem.
Somewhat interesting: Once, I went to see Jethro Tull and Emerson, Lake and Palmer at the Garden State Arts Center (PNC). My brother in law and I stopped in Basil's afterwards for a late night bite.....and ELP were eating in the dining room!
