We has passed this Main street restaurant several times and wanted to try it out. We visited early on a Wed night. We were enthusiastically greeted by our server and the owner stopped by to explain items on the menu and make you feel welcome.
The interior in the front is an ecletic mix of benches, church pews...
We started with the Yucca fries which took several minutes but arrived hot, and crisp. They were not greasy at all and had a nice mealy interior that went well with the spicy dip that accompanied it. We also ordered a cheese bread that seemed to be popular. It arrived and was basically a popover with a soft cheesy center. Not worth a second try.
The main course was the Ximxim de Galinha a chicken stew with drid shrimp, peanuts, tomatoes and onions served in a crockery pot. The flavor was okay but dark with no outstanding flavor. My choice but a disappointment flavor wise. The other entree was a shredded chicken salad with curry mayonaise binding. It was equally unexciting and the chicken was very shredded to the degree of having a stringy texture.
We ended with the passionfruit parfait (creme de maracuja). It was a small portion, very tart as would be expected from passionfruit.
Service was great.
