“Do they care?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

It is remarkable for a hotel of this price that is so inept. The room is comfortable but threadbare with a tiny sink area and chipped and scratched furniture. Two of the three elevators were out of order for three days. No signs indicated that nor was there any mention or apology. Restaurant food was good but service inept. Most annoying is the devious so called green option where they give you a five dollar credit on food if you "go green" and don't have your linens and towels changed. What they don't make clear is that means NO housekeeping, no tub or toilet cleaned, no glasses changed, trash emptied, bed made,, etc. So what the really mean by "green" is green in their pocket by not having housekeeping clean the room. It has nothing to do with conservation.
I am a Starwood Gold member but I would certainly go elsewhere in the future. Very devious.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere

Dear RAHWilmette,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We are sorry that you were not as pleased with your stay as we would have liked you to be. We strive to deliver the best in service to all of our guests and certainly look forward to resolving any issues that may have impacted your stay. We are currently working with engineering to fix the elevator malfunctions so that it does not impact our future guests.
Our “Make a Green Choice” program is designed to conserve all resources by having our guest forgo the housekeeping services until the time of check out in exchange for the five dollar voucher. In the future, we invite you to accept the housekeeping services as you normally would so that we can ensure that your guest room adheres to the highest standards of cleanliness and organization.
Thank you again for your review and we hope to see you again at The Westin Princeton at Forrestall Village.

My husband and I visit this hotel as an overnight getaway about six times a year. When we arrive, we are greeted by staff that knows our name (very impressive). The front office manager, Lynn, Nancy, David, Thierry, Chris and Paul find away to make us feel like we are important every time we visit.

What makes our visits so special is the staff. However, they have an unusually good restaurant managed by a guy named Max. The food is fresh and the recipes are innovative.

They have a good workout facility with up to date machines. They have a great indoor and outdoor pool facility.

The rooms are spacious, well-appointed and well-kept.

We love our weekend getaway, and you will too!!!

Room Tip: Let the staff get to know you. They will work hard to make sure your stay is special.

While the surrounding development seems nearly vacant, the hotel is nice and the service was very good. I spent a couple of night there and had to eat in the hotel. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the speed at which it came to the room.
I am sure that it would be nicer if the overall development was active, but i enjoyed the peaceful nature of the hotel.

We stayed here this weekend for a friend's birthday party and had a great time. The hotel has 24-hour room service, which was an amazing surprise. We also took full advantage of the warm indoor pool during our stay as well. The bed was super comfortable (I never wanted to get out of it in the morning) and the rooms were clean but a little dark. My only qualm is that the bar closed awfully early (around midnight /1230) even though there were a ton of us there ordering drinks.

I really don't have much to add to previous reviews. This hotel is clean and quiet and the beds and bedding are just great. At first I resisted staying here, as Princeton was further from our destination than other areas, but the family member I was traveling with is a Starwood Club member and insisted on it. We stayed on the private Club floor and it was great fun.

I used the "Westin Workout" room and it was well equipped and comfortable. Didn't eat in the restaurant or use other amenities. Wifi worked great. Temperature control was easy and pretty quiet (heat). The only that gives away this hotel's age is the elevators - they can be a bit creaky - but that was not an issue for me.

I would certainly stay here again and would recommend it for visits to the Princeton area.

Pluses:
Front desk (Frankie) was very friendly and helpful. It has the quality that you expect from Westin. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the nicest play to stay in the Princeton area.

Minuses:
Only one elevator was working when we arrived. The room was not properly prepared (no shampoo and conditioner, only one bathrobe) - though the front desk called back to make sure we received the missing items.

We wanted to get out of NYC and explore Princeton, NJ. The Westin Princeton was quiet, clean and a great value (for AAA members under $100p/ night). If I could rate the place as good rather than average or very good, than I would. We arrived and all the elevators were out of order. The concierge didn't even acknowledge the inconvenience and instructed us to take the stairs. Our room looked out over a roof top and was hard to get to from the emergency staircase. Nonetheless, we'd definitely recommend staying there if you are in the Princeton area because of the comfortable clean rooms.

Dear Rachel F,

Thank you for your recent stay here at the Westin Princeton. It was an honor and privilege to have you with us and we look forward to your return in the New Year. As you related in your posting, our rates are reasonable and the room you found to be "quiet, clean and a great value." We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and lack of sensitivity by our concierge not acknowledging the problem. We are in the process of upgrading our elevators and expect to replace them shortly.-Wishing you and the family a very healthy, happy and prosperous New Year.

Be Well,
Lynn
