I have stayed at The Palmer Inn many times over the past few years that my daughter has attended Princeton University. I admit that the other comments in here are almost right, the place was run down. I stopped going there about a year ago because of the problems. Well I was just in Princeton last week and I drove by just to see (since the one person commented that it was going to be renovated) and WOW! They changed their name to Clarion. I think its still The Palmer Inn though. Two names maybe? The whole outside of the building has been redone. So my curosity got the best of me and I went inside. The lobby was gorgeous, not quite finished, but everything was new. I asked to see a room and the front desk clerk called the manager and she took me to see one. They are really really nice. EVERYTHING was brand-spankin new! I was so impressed. I asked what the new rates were and was surprised to find out that the University rate didnt go up. With all the renovations they did, it was shocking! So I went back to the hotel that I was at (Amerisuites, which is nice, dont get me wrong if you can afford a kid in Princeton University and pay $179.00 a night for a hotel) I talked things over with my husband and we decided to try out Palmer again. We checked out of Amerisuites the next morning and checked into Palmer for $95.00 a night. We had a very nice stay. The renovations were still going on, but they didnt bother us any. It was so nice to go back there after a year and see the place doing so well. I will be back there next month to see my daughter again and the renovations are supposed to be done by then. I would recommend the NEW Palmer Inn to my friends and family. Affordable, comfortable, friendly and beautiful!
