“This hotel failed me”

Homewood Suites Princeton

This is a nice hotel, but the management is poor. I was promised a free shuttle service from the railway station, and in fact I went to a lot of trouble to get to Princeton Junction. I will admit my train was delayed, and I was not able to make my initial meeting with the shuttle, but I rang and updated them at least four times. Then when I finally got there, catching a train from Trenton (the most dangerous city in the USA), I was told that they could not collect me, and that I would have to catch a cab. In the end I got ripped off by an illicit cab driver and just paid an inflated rate (no meter) because I did not want to cross someone who could be dangerous. So I was hours delayed to make use of the shuttle (which my rather poor company insisted I not use taxis). To make matters worse, the front desk is understaffed and there are delays in check in. I spoke with the manager, Carlos Santana who indicated that they would not pay for the cab. Although he was polite, he was not prepared to make this customer less disgruntled. My advice is do not rely on this hotel to do anything.

I shouldn't be surprised that the Homewood Suites were so nice, given other TripAdvisor reviews, but honestly it was nicer than I expected. I got a great rate for a suite with a full kitchen. The room was pretty luxurious; the bathroom was spacious and clean and the whole place seems to have been redecorated recently. The free breakfast buffet was hearty -- not just bread and juice as at some other places. There were two breakfast entrees with hot side orders each day, plus the usual assortment of cereals, breads, pastries. An unexpected plus was that they offer a free dinnertime meal (buffet style again) on weekdays, although I didn't take advantage of this. The staff members were all helpful, the place was immaculately clean and well-kept up. I can't think of anything negative to say about the place. In fact, I the rooms were a lot nicer and certainly more spacious than those in the nearby Hyatt, which is much more expensive and doesn't include breakfast or complimentary wireless internet. Overall: don't hesitate to stay at the Homewood if you're visiting Princeton.

“They charged me and cancelled my reservation”

Homewood Suites Princeton

May 30, 2008

I booked the trip through Hilton's website. It was a busy weekend and so they required advanced payment, which I payed two months in advance. They then gave away my room and refused to refund me telling me I had to contact Hilton. Hilton told me that I had to contact the hotel and kept transferring me to voice mail. I will never do business with this hotel or Hilton again.

“Could not have been HAPPIER, great stay”

Homewood Suites Princeton

Traveling to Princeton for a wedding, we booked two rooms for our party of 4 plus baby. We arrived on the rainiest night I can remember. After driving 4 hours in the rain, the Homewood Suites Princeton was an oasis of calm, warmth, and accommodation. We were greeted with a roaring fire upon entering the lobby, and with a warm greeting from the nice woman working the front desk. She smiled at my baby, my baby smiled at her, and we relaxed. We were shown a room that was some way from my in-laws room, and went to the desk to see if a change was possible. Instantly, our room was changed to a room across the aisle from my in-laws, and we were given a two room suite to boot.

All the rooms were clean, and the beds comfortable. The full size kitchen with full size fridge was appreciated by a nursing mom with bottles of milk to keep fresh. It being such a rainy nasty night, we were happy to be able to cook in and rest from our drive. We had all the dishes and cookware were needed to make a nice dinner. Again, a full size stove is a nice touch for a family with children. The buffet breakfast in the morning was complete, and a nice touch. The happy gentleman working the station accommodated our requests with a pleasant smile.

I cannot say enough about the two ladies working the front desk. We stayed over the weekend From Feb 1 to Feb 4, and they were always there to greet us and chuckle over my baby (always a crowd pleaser with me).

We had a wonderful little family vacation, and the hotel exceeded our expectations. We will go again.

“Poor service from management”

Front desk clerks were very nice and hotel is very clean. Edgar the breakfast attendant was very friendly and always keeps things hot and full. Hotel had all of 12 cars in the parking lot . Went in and requested a 2 bedded room for our 4 person reservation and asked if the hotel was full to which I got the answer no and if a 2 bedded room was available to which they said yes. Management informed us policy was a pull out and a full bed (no exceptions) for "internet reservations". I had been told that my preferences could be accomodated at check in if the hotel was not full...so not the case. I was asked for 59 dollars extra a night if I wanted a 2 bedded room. I've had outstanding service at this property previously and have had no problems getting requested room location or room type which is why I returned. After speaking with the general manager about getting a different room, I can assure you I will never set foot in one of his properties again and will call my company to cancel the reservations that I had in another city for the other hotel they manage. Threatening to hang up on me and telling me its about money and business and the other rooms can sit empty is not a way to treat a returning guest or someone in the frequent guest program for Hilton. So much for their "suite guarantee" of a good stay.
