“Princeton Battlefield - site of Gen. George Washington's first victory over the British”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

New Jersey is chock full of American Revolutionary War sites. But I found the Princeton Battlefield State Park to be one of the most interesting. It was here that the American troops under the command of Gen. Washington had their first victory over the British. The Clark House is situated on this site and was used by both armies during the course of the war here. It was where the mortally wounded General Hugh Mercer (for whom Mercer county is named) was treated for his wounds and subsequently died. The house is filled with all sorts of Revolutionary War-related memorabilia.

“Marraiage”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

I actually was outside in this park for a marriage that took place between a scientist and a wine enthusiast. The surrounding were beautiful.

“Great Story. Not much to see.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

The story behind the Princeton Battlefield is truly remarkable and helps you appreciate how difficult the struggle for independence really was. However, there's really not much to see unless there is a re-enactment happening.

“Enjoyed the Area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

The Princeton Battlefield State Park was a very calming place considering the violence that took place there in 1777. We did not drive into the park, but pulled to the side of the road designated for parking for those who want to visit the areas on either side of Mercer Road. On one side is the Ionic Colonnade that was designed by Thomas U. Walter, architect of the US Capital. On the other side is the remains of the stump of the Mercer Oak. General Hugh Mercer, who was wounded in the battle, was placed under the oak because he refused to leave the battle. He was later moved to the Clark House were he died. A smaller oak is growing next to were the Mercer Oak stood. This oak was grown from an acorn from the original oak tree. The fall color of the leaves made it a perfect place for photos of the area. We did not visit the Clark House because of time, but hope to go again on our next visit.

“Okay on a nice day”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

It's just okay on a nice day. If there are no events to see, it's pretty much just walking around. Try the iPhone tour - nice to have a person talking to you about it. I wanted to know more about much of the experience, but there weren't really any guides or anything. Try going on a weekend when there's an event.
