“Quality accommodations, great staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

We just got back from a great overnight stay at the Windswept Motel. We had an ocean view room, which we could see a good portion of the ocean, and it was super clean and comfortable. I am picky about cleanliness (We have a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old) and the room was immaculate. We had a four-cup coffee pot and coffee in our room, a nice size refrigerator and ice bucket and glasses. We also had a nice, but tiny, deck with two chairs off our room. It offered a good view of Jenkinson's Boardwalk fireworks Saturday night.
Getting to the beach was not difficult, although I was a little concerned from previous reviews. We had to go around the hotel from our room and out to a walkway. The boardwalk shops started a short distance from the hotel and were not too long of a walk for our kids. The aquarium, at the end of Jenkinson's Boardwalk, was a little bit too far for them though. I would say strollers were necessary for young kids.
The staff was also very friendly and helpful with eatery suggestions - we ate at John and Elaine's for breakfast. Yummy. We didn't get to Shore Fresh for seafood, but hope to the next time we're in Pt. Pleasant. Hoffman's Ice Cream was delicious too with huge portions. Staff at Windswept was so nice and let us use the restroom for the facilities and to change after we checked out with our 1-year-old and 3-year-old. It shows they really care about their customers! Note to anyone using the beach: There are no public bathhouses (one public restroom on the entire boardwalk) in Pt. Pleasant, so plan accordingly if you check out of your hotel and want to go to the beach for the day. I was unprepared for the sandy aftermath.
We would highly recommend this motel to anyone for a stay in Pt. Pleasant. It exceeded our expectations!

Stayed a weekend. Room was small, bed was comfortable, free wi-fi, numbered parking spots, complimentary coffee (7:15 a.m.-12 p.m July and August), very close to the beach. Nice view of the beach too. The boardwalk is around the corner, but you have to go to the street to access it (no direct access from the hotel), free ice from ice machine, nice small pool, beach passes.

bathroom was outdated, no parking allowed after check out (10 a.m.), to access beach you have to walk a little bit behind the other hotel even though there is a direct beach entrance by Windswept parking lot (only for club members of an organization), upon check in bathroom was not that clean (found hair in shower).

Overall a good place. Will probably go back.

Had ocean front room (210) and it was definitely oceanfront! Rooms were very clean and got excellent restaurant recommendations from the cleaning staff! John & Elaines for the BEST homemade breakfasts and Shore Fresh for the best fresh seafood...right by where the fishing boats dock. Oh..and the best homemade ice cream at Hoffmans! The windswept shares the beach with the White sands so there is a small walk, but not bad at all! My grandson had an "awesome" time as he put it. We stayed 8/23-8/26. The pool super clean! The only thing I wish is that they had was a little "snack place" to go down and have a quick breakfast so we didnt have to leave in morning for food before going t beach, but I knew that so that is not a negative, just a recommendation. We had large suv and parking for the oceanfront rooms was very very tight(for big cars or trucks), had to do 20 point turn to maneuver into our alotted space. Again, just a minor negative. Overall...wonderful trip!!!

We rented two oceanview rooms from August 16-21, and really enjoyed this motel. The rooms were very clean, and the air conditioning worked well. The towels were very fluffy - better than in some far fancier places I've stayed! The housekeeping staff was very friendly every time we saw them. The pool had just been rebuilt (since Sandy fill the old one with sand, the desk cleark told us), and the boardwalk to Jenkinson's amusement part/aquarium/etc. starts just steps out the back door of the motel.

Since we had two adjacent rooms (206 + 2-7), we were able to compare them. The rooms were identical, and both in good shape, though one had a mini fridge with separate freeze that worked really well, while the other had just a fridge and it seemed to freeze everything regardless of the temperature setting.

The one really weird thing was the beach access, which I see others have commented on. The beach directly backing up to the motel is a private beach with paid admission. Just to the right of that (if you're facing the water) is a private surf club, for members only. Therefore, to get to the beach, you have to walk perpendicular to the water past two other hotels, and then turn to get to the water. I couldn't tell what people meant by this when I read reviews before the trip, so I'm posting a video here to explain it.

Room Tip: You don't see very much of the beach from the oceanview rooms; if you can't get any that are...

I have NO CLUE how this Motel is getting good reviews, because we were EXTREMELY disappointed in the overall LIES which we were told over the phone (while we booked 2 nights) about the place. Let if be known that the ONLY reason we booked an ocean front hotel is due the fact that we have 2 small children who need food and bathroom often and a father with a bad ankle who cannot walk too far especially in the heat and sand. When i called to book, i asked the exact location of the hotel and she stated "right on the beach" then i said "so that means we walk straight from our room onto the sand?", as she said "yes". [--]! Then, i was specifically told that the ONLY room available to us with 2 beds (we needed 2 beds) was an "Oceanview room" for $287 which was a $100 higher than a non ocean view room. As we didn't seem to have a choice we booked this room. Well......when we arrived, the room was BARELY an "ocean corner view" and was DIRECTLY over a large parking lot. When we asked the woman why we paid so much for this she said its because we could see some of the ocean. WHAT?! We dealt with this even though we were upset about paying so much, but when we wanted to get on the beach, we found out we had to literally walk 2-3 units/streets over to the side, THEN down to the water! That was the last straw since it completely defeats the whole purpose of paying for an oceanfront hotel! So we told the lady at the desk that we will only be staying that night, but not the next night and because of her sheer lies, we would like a refund for the second night. She refused and said we had to stay both nights OR neither. CORRUPT! We called all other hotels and there was no vacancy, So we immediately packed up all the sand toys and anything we had already put in the room and drove 3 hours back home! Yes, we actually did not even spend an hour on the beach and drove all the way back home with 2 young kids in their bathing suits! That, ladies and gentlemen, is an absolute WASTE!!! Dont be as gullible as we were! I will be making sure i get the word across about this joke of a hotel!

My husband and I usually go to Seaside or Wildwood but after Sandy began looking at other communities. We wanted a place right on the beach within walking distance of the boardwalk's attraction and found the Windswept. Excellent location, very clean, nice staff, good views of the beach. We are going back next weekend and have told everyone we know what a little gem this hotel is.
One drawback was the beach access for the hotel. Our beach access bracelets only allowed us to enter the beach by walking around the hotel, past the entrance right in front of the hotel and down another 50 yards right through ongoing construction. No one seemed to know the reason for this and was the only thing that made us scratch our heads in wonder.
Otherwise all was terrific and we would recommend it highly.

We spent the weekend at the windswept. The room was freshly done and steps away from the beach. It's very close to the boardwalk if you care to go but very peaceful and quiet if you don't. The pool is small but refreshing with great views of the beach. I would definitely recommend. We were in one of the lower priced rooms and I had no complaints except I think a mini fridge would be a good addition to every room.
