The property needs an overhaul. The carpets were filthy in the hallways and not that much better in the room. The wood on the doors were peeling and hot water knob was leaking on the sink. It didn't appear anyone had ever wiped down the phone. The heater worked but kept turning off and on during the night rather loudly. The safe was broke. We didn't have an ice bucket so we went to the front desk and finally got one and could only find one ice machine that worked on the first floor. The exterior was run down and be careful coming off the last step it was sloped and my husband almost fell. The breakfast was strictly continental a few bagels and danish and the orange juice machine was broke and no milk for cereal. Service was poor for the breakfast area. I would not recommend staying here. Some of the photos I saw seemed touched up to me and did not actually represent the actual hotel.

I gave it 5 stars for the following reasons. Before I booked I checked the reviews. They were pretty bad. However, as an experienced traveler, I know bang for my money.

Firstly, I was apprehensive when I got there thinking it was a dive. Stayed three (3) nights. Paid $90 bucks with taxes etc. The room was huge. Yes the furniture is a bit out dated. Yes the room may need to be upgraded. What do you want for $27 per night. My experience was amazing. My room view was the channel. It was peaceful. No towel issues nor any bad experience whatsoever. The bed was firm with lots of pillows. I always check for bed bugs. No bed bugs.

Finally, it may not be a 5 star place but, I give it 5 stars experience. You're not walking into luxury even though the lobby was beautiful. You're walking into a place where you can feel comfortable. A place considering $27 per night is well worth the stay. I have no problem coming back. Very nice staff. This hotel was a pleasure to stay. And no I don't work there...... Comes to show you that you can't believe everything you read. I learned my lesson. Sometimes you just have to take the chance. Especially when you save hundreds of dollars....

This hotel has gone downhill since it changed hands. We used to love it there. It definitely needs an upgrade. Even the breakfast buffet (if that's what you want to call it) was terrible. There was practically nothing to eat. Bare bones. Not even a hard boiled egg for some protein. Cleanliness in the breakfast area (or lack of) was also an issue. It would have to undergo a major transformation before we ever stay there again.
