I went to the Penn Queen because I heard so many good things about their food and wanted to place an order to go. But from the moment I walked in, every staff person I came into contact with treated me like they couldn't be bothered with me. I was left standing in the lobby with people walking by, not even bothering to ask me if I was being helped. There were at least three people who came over to deal with things at the pastry counter and none of them paid any attention to me. There were even moments when I was left standing there alone. When someone finally approached me, I was told I had to place my order at the counter with one particular waitress. It took her forever to approach me and, when she did, she told me she would be right back to take my order and left me there again. I have no idea where she went, but she never came back and, for some reason, she was the only person who could take my order. It was one of the stupidest, most unprofessional experiences I ever had in a diner. I wound up walking out and going somewhere else.
It doesn't matter to me how good their food is. If you can't treat a customer with respect, then you will not get my business. Maybe there was something going on there that night that I wasn't aware of. But if that was the case, somebody should have said something to avoid making me feel like they didn't care one bit about my business. I won't be going back.
