“Just plain Chinese food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

The food just seemed like average Chinese food. The atmosphere is not warm nor is the service. I felt like we were bothering the waiter to get him to serve us. Nothing special here, I wont go back.

“Great, authentic cuisine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

If you want good and authentic Chinese food-come here! The weekend dim-sum is always crowded and the food is good. Leave room for the noodle dishes which is plentiful for a family.

“Authentic and delicious dim sum, however the service and cleanliness is going downhill”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

I have been frequenting this restaurant for years. I really liked the dim sum and the twin lobster special. I think they can be rated as 5 star for the food.

Unfortunately, the service is going downhill. The place doubled up in space from when they started but it seems the staff is either not enough, or not trained to focus on customer service. There are many ocassion (almost always), you will have to wait for a long time to get a waiter/waitress. They are all in a hurry and when they bring you what you asked for, they will drop it so fast and never cared to ask if there is anything else needed. The restroom needs attention, it really is getting worse. They also give you a plactic disposable cup for water, and the pitcher of water is so gross. Its time for the owner to seriously look at the service, cleanliness, of this restaurant.

“Regulars”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

We have been coming here for years and when I saw the TripAdvisor logo on their door it reminded me to sit down and write a review. Ever since we were taken here by a relative many years ago, it has been our "go to" place for dim sum and dinners. We drive the 35+ minutes each way to eat here because we know the waiters now by name and the food is usually consistent. The dim sum is served in carts which is a plus and there is a good variety to choose from.

Negatives:
1) There have been times where the people pushing the carts during dim sum have completely bypassed us or never got around to us. This is because they don't follow any set path and from time to time people will just get up from their table to request stuff and throw them off course. Infrequently happens but when it does, it is annoying. If this happens to you and you know what you want, ask a waiter to get it for you.
2) Sometimes the meals are inconsistent in taste. Whenever we come here, 90% of the order is usually the same. 95% of the time it tastes great and we are happy. Whole meals for your table are usually cooked by one chef in the back so if you happen to get one that is off their game for the day, your entire meal will reflect that.
3) Yes, some of the wait staff aren't great, but as a regular to Chinatown in NYC you learn to accept that (yes, they are even rude to Chinese people like us) and we've never come across anyone that was bad. That said, there are some great waiters and waitresses there as well so it is the luck of the draw.

Tip: If you are going for dim sum, go early if you don't want to wait. We always get there by 11 and never wait. BUT. Don't get there when they start serving at 10:30 because they don't have all the dishes ready and you may not get what you are looking for. Also, the "non-dim sum" chefs usually don't arrive until 11 so you can't really order noodle dishes or anything off the menu until then.

“Disappointing - don't waste your money here”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2012

We have frequented Noodle Chu many times and have always had a good experience. That all changed on our visit August 2nd. Restaurant was not very busy but floor was dirty and the tables and chairs were haphazardly placed. Glass door full of hand prints-obviously hasn't been cleaned in some time.

We were seated and waited several minutes before we were acknowledged. Hot tea was brought and then we waited again. No crispy noodles & duck sauce, no waiter-finally he shows up. Hurriedly takes our order and leaves-saying he will bring the crispy noodles & sauce. Minutes go by, we catch his eye (finally) and remind him about the noodles-he says nothing and drops them off. They were not good-tasted stale with the duck sauce having a strange taste also. Meanwhile, we notice other waiters & waitresses bringing waters and drinks to their customers tables and occasionally checking in on them. We were completely ignored by our waiter. When our order of sesame chicken and fried dumplings arrived-no words from our waiter if there is anything we need etc. Tried getting his attention to bring water-he never looked our way-another waiter had to get it for us. The sesame chicken was over cooked-hard, chewy and you could taste the oil. We were only able to eat 1/2. The dumplings were OK. Again, our waiter never came by to see how things were. Another waiter cleared our plates and after some time, our waiter brought the bill and orange wedges without a word. By the way, the older couple next to us were elegantly dressed and had the same waiter, who still in a hurry- barely said a word and when she ordered a Coke he came back, quickly put a bottle and a straw in front of her!. She had to practically grab him to tell him to bring a glass with ice for her drink. They looked at us and shook their heads--this is restaurant service? We told the person ringing up our bill how disappointed we were about the service and food. He said he would address this with the kitchen. The poor attitude, lack of cleanliness, poor quality of the food has convinced us that this is one Chinese restaurant we won't be going to again!
