“Great customer service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

We stay at this hotel once or twice a year. The greeted us at the front desk with welcome back. We stayed 12-28 through the new year. The check-in was Wonderful we had just been rear ended from behind and had to have our car towed, and a taxi to the hotel. They gave us two priority welcome bags. They also gave us menus that provide delivery to the hotel.

We had a few issues and i'm pleased to say they rectified the situation immediately. The room was clean, and we were able to rest. The breakfast is not fancy but convenient.

They also have a brand new elevator so you can get to the second floor without stairs.

It's close to relatives in NJ and New York. We went to the new Barclay Center, what a treat. Brooklyn has an Amazing energy level, was glad they beat Cleveland.

The hotel is very centrally located for access to Northern NJ and NYC. My greeting upon check in was efficient and welcoming. There is a continental breakfast included. A diner is just a bit down the road though returning back to the hotel is complex because of the highway. The room was clean, large and well lit though a bit dated. It is definitely a value.

The service here was excellent. They helped us with bags, directions, room selection, and the hotel had a great free breakfast. They were very accommodating and our room was quite large and the bed was comfortable.

Stayed here 7 days during hurricane sandy and this hotel offered flash lights when power went out and stayed out 6 if the seven nights. They made sure the gererator stayed running for lights in halls and places to charge phones. They even hooked up a car to hot water heater to make sure we could at least shower, they continued to offer breakfast until they ran out of food. Maria the manager changed my Room to 1 of the six that had power in back of hotel since that small section was on separate grid. Only 5 mins from garden state plaza ( take back road on side of hotel) don't even have to get in busy 17. Yes this is an older HIE but convenient to NYC and Rutherford by Meadowlands sports complex

I'm looking at the other reviews and I agree. The staff made our stay very nice! Every question we had was met with " I would be very happy to...". One night the cookies at the front desk were gone and they ran and put more in the oven for us! It was clean and close to the city for a cheaper stay than most hotels in New York. Getting there is tricky because if you miss the driveway, you have to make a U turn somewhere in the distance to get back onto the road as they are one way expressways and people are moving fast.

Room Tip: We chose the second floor and were happy with our choice.

Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We checked in late and front desk staff Elvis was very informative about places to eat near the hotel. Room was super clean, comfy and surprisingly quiet. Free breakfast was fresh and better than we were expecting. Would definately stay here again. Getting into parking lot was tough but manageable. If you miss entrance though, you can take the next right and enter through the back of the hotel.

Pulling into this hotel parking lot was absolutely terrifying. You have to quickly "merge" into a fast moving lane coming in from another highway and as soon as you get over you have to turn right quickly, effectively begging to be rear ended. I get it, breath a sigh of relief and look up to see a super sketchy hotel that has clearly been converted from something old and creepy. I wasn't ready to try exiting the parking lot, so I stayed. It is so much better inside!!! The inside has all been redone nicely, and is much more of what I expect from a HIX. I walked in at the same time as several others, so they were very busy but nice and efficient. My room was huge (301), clean, and comfy. It was sad to see all the great shopping possibilities to the left of the hotel but to know that it's not worth the trouble to get anywhere to your left in New Jersey. Great hotel, seriously dislike the location.
