“Great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2010

Just got back. The room was lovely and modern (#13), no faux victorian fanfare, and everyone was lovely to us. Right near the beach. Will definitely go back.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2010

I am always hesitant about small inns and b&bs because of the doily and teddy bear factor. What a lovely surprise to find one with the clean, modern charm of the Majestic, a victorian inn with modern touches and wonderful service. The beds were super comfortable. The people there could not be more accommodating, and our rooms were bright and comfortable. The only drawback was the lack of closets but that does not detract from the unique quality of this hotel. A varied breakfast buffet topped things off for us. Hopefully, we will get a chance to spend more time at the Majestic-highly recommended!

In short, you're paying for location. One block from a beautiful beach and the boardwalk. If, as we were, you're staying in November, it's not such a big benefit. The room was average size, in average shape, with average amenities. Breakfast was, you guessed it, average. Service was terrific. Everyone was very nice and extremely helpful. Would we stay again? Not at these prices.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2009

After reading mostly positive reviews, we booked a room for two nights in August. We chose the "older" rooms (based on the reservation clerk's advice since she suggested that they were larger than the newer rooms. We were not impressed.

Our problems were all related to the maintenance (or lack thereof) of the room. Let me also preface this by stating that we were contacted by the Manager to offer a cash adjustment after our stay but after 6 weeks and numerous emails left unanswered, we assume he has withdrawn his offer.

The armoire in the room had no handle and we had to pry it open. Once we opened it, we could not close it and the door swung open. We finally jammed it shut and lived out of our suitcases since there was no other place for our clothes. The toilet "ran" the entire time we were there. Each time we used it, we had to lift the top and adjust the chain. The switchplate on the wall did not have a cover (so we did not use it) and the reading light mechanism came loose each time we tried to turn it on. There was a huge swatch of wallpaper border missing from the corner. There was no wand on the blinds so we were never able to let in light unless we lifted them up completely (and the view was exhaust fans and another building very close). You might wonder why we put up with all of this during our stay...we just wanted to use the room and did not want our access compromised by maintenance people servicing these many repairs. The rest of the rooms were booked so we could not switch rooms either.

We assumed a boutique hotel would check these features prior to announcing that the room was ready.

On a positive note, the location was very close to the beach and we enjoyed the upstairs front porch as well as the common area on the top floor. The breakfast was good with fresh food and our dinner was very very good. Definitely try the restaurant!

We have stayed in numerous other boutique hotels and would not include the Majestic in that category.

We chose the Majestic when our regular hotel was booked... the room was large and spacious, the gentleman that checked us in "squeezed" us in to the dining room so that we were able to have dinner before a show at the auditorium. He was so kind and most accomodating. The breakfast on Sunday morning was nice but unattended. Our late checkout request (so that we could attend church) required a bit of negotiation but was granted. Only down side was that the room was dusty.... and the upper porch needed a good cleaning.
We would most definetly return to the dining room and consider staying in the hotel again.

I have stayed at the Majestic on a few occasions - sometimes business, sometimes pleasure. It has the perfect combination of convenience and comfort in a great location.

The majestic experience was exceptional! The staff was extremely attentive and thorough. The GM was professional and accommodating! We appreciated the services provided. Not only would we recommend this location to our corporate partners, we will definitely consider Majestic as our first choice whenever we plan to return to the Jersey Shore. Special thank you to Britney! James, your entire team was friendly and hospitable.
