“Excellent location, good friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2011

Just spent two nights at The Flanders Hotel in Ocean City, NJ. I made the reservation on Monday and checked in on Tuesday for two nights. Reserved a one bedroom oceanfront. This hotel is not cheap but any decent hotel will cost some money. I was traveling alone with two kids and needed to have a safe, clean environment with a great location - this fit the bill. I called at noon to see if I could check in early and I was able to get in 3 hours before check in - nice bonus. They give you a beach badge to use during your stay and beach chairs were in the closet. One pull out sofa and one pull out chair and Mom got her own room (sweet). Furnishing country meets beach - casual and slightly dated. Had breakfast at Emily's has a slight "shinning" vibe - empty midweek old style decor but the pancakes and quiche were awesome. Pool was also warm and clean. No complaints. Would not hesitate to go back or recommend to anyone.

Daughters wedding night was not accomodated as I confirmed several times. Room was not cleaned as requested and a basket of gifts for my daughters wedding night was never delivered! Management blamed me for not giving my requests to a "Manager", only to the $8 hr employee at the front desk! The $8 hr employee was the most accommodating and offered apology more than the 3 managers I spoke too. After a 2 night minimum stay, and spending $300 a night, I would think a guest should not have to request a manager to have the room cleaned after the first night and before the bride and groom sleep there on their "WEDDING NIGHT". This was a request upon making the reservation and checking in, along with having a gift delivered to the room, which never happened. I will NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone!!

Room Tip: Make sure you request a manager!

Our stay at The Flanders was enjoyable. The accomodations in 9ll were wonderful. The
condo was spacious and beautifully decorated with many personal touches. The views
of the ocean from both the living area and bedroom were great, especially when the
largest and fullest moon was shining on the ocean that Saturday evening. If you're thinking on making the trip down to Ocean City, be sure to check out The Flanders, an
old-fashioned vintage hotel with many modern amenities. And, don't forget, you have to visit Mack & Manco's Pizza, just a couple of blocks away, for the most delicious pizza in
the State of New Jersey!!!!

I am sorry I read the unfavorable reviews of The Flanders Hotel. The place was clean, staff was very friendly and the room, wow. I was on the sixth floor and was very impressed with the large size of the room and the amenities! The kitchen was complete with dishes, pots etc. even a toaster. The bathroom was loaded with towels and the bedroom had extra blankets and pillows in the closet.
I can imagine in the middle of summer the boardwalk noise would be bothersome. But hey, if you are going to the beach and staying on the boardwalk--noise is inevitable.
Whenever I travel to OC, NJ--this is the place for me.

I've stayed at a number of places in South Jersey, and simply put The Flanders is the best - by a mile . . . the hotel lobby is beautiful . . . the heated pool is large and wasn't crowded . . . great view from my room of the shoreline looking south . . . will definitely stay there again . . . you feel like you're in a real upscale hotel, especially compared to all of the plain motels that are at most shore towns.

I am not prone to writing reviews; it's just not something I normally do. However, after a most enjoyable stay at The Flanders Hotel over a recent November weekend, I felt a need to do so.
It has been a number of years since we have visited this wonderful old Landmark and were excited to go. We were not disappointed. My husband and I found the Hotel to be top notch and would both easily rate it among the best. Everything was perfect; the staff was efficient and friendly, the rooms were exceptionally clean, and the service was outstanding.
We came home feeling as we had hoped we would ~ relaxed and rejuvenated. We are already looking forward to Summer as we are in the process of making plans for another wonderful visit. We thank everyone at The Flanders!

The hotel retains it's vintage charm in the lobby area, yet the rooms are modern, spacious, and very clean and comfortable. We stayed in the 2-bedroom suite. I can see where it might be a problem in the summer with the rides outside the window, but we were there off-season and it was very nice. A short walk to the boardwalk and ocean, with a view of the ocean from some of the windows. The second bedroom was somewhat cramped with the queen bed taking up most of the space and no closet, but not a huge problem. Free wireless internet is a plus--however, it sometimes took a couple of tries to get one of the signals to stay connected. We were fortunate to stay there for a function with discounted rates--otherwise they would not have been affordable for us.
The food that was served for all the conference meals was excellent--not the usual! All staff persons were very nice and accomodating.
