“Excellent place to stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2009

We have just returned from a long weekend stay at the Ocean Beach Club Hotel. Everything from the point of making our reservation to checking out was great. Check in was easy and bell hop service was available to help unload the car. The room was very nice and bathroom amenities appreciated. The pool was very clean and beach chairs at the pool were available at all times. We ate in the restaurant for 3 of our meals and next time would do more. Service was good as was the food. And the location cannot be beat. I would highly recommend this hotel to couples or families. Since we had a first floor street side room it would be nice if sheer curtains were provided under the drapes. But that is a minor issue.

This was our first time to OC. We have been to other places on the Jersey Shore. This hotel was a great location and perfect for 5 nights. We had two rooms, adjoining. The pool was perfect, the walk to the beach was great. The staff was friendly and accomodating. We would go back again.

We actually stayed in the Beach Club Suites which is next door to the Beach Club Hotel and under the same management.

The Suites are very nice. They must have been remodeled recently. They have a large living room/kitchen area. Large flat screen TV. Full size fridge, small cook top, and even a dish washer. The bathroom was really large for a hotel and the bedroom was also a good size. The decor and furniture were also nice.

The hotel doesn't have any view of the ocean but you are just a few steps away once you leave the hotel. The location was great. Right next to the boardwalk and the bike/surrey rental place.

The service was wonderful. Everyone was really friendly and nice. We have a 9 month old. As soon as I mentioned we were bringing a baby, they offered to put a pack-n-play in the room.

The only thing that I would suggest is to bring your own pillows. The ones in the room were a little to hard. But otherwise everything else was wonderful. If we go back to Ocean City we will be staying with the Beach Club for sure.

My husband and I wanted a quick get away in Ocean City. I read the reviews about the Beach Club and decided to give it a try. It is terrific. The location is great-it is directly on the boardwalk-you can walk everywhere. The room was clean and spacious. The bathroom had mini bottles of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel from Bath and Body Works and tons of towels. The week after Labor Day is great in Ocean City. Less crowds and plenty of things to do. Where else can you play Skeeball for 10 cents? (Jilly's Arcade) The pool area had plenty of chaises-we loved the ones that face the boardwalk. You can sit and watch all the people plus the beach and ocean. The pool is heated-very nice. We already planned to return in the Spring.

Another year at the Beach Club and we still felt like it was a nice stay, especially compared to the other options on the beach. The best thing about it is the location, right toward the end of the boardwalk where it is quieter, but close enough to walk to everything. The pool overlooking the ocean is really wonderful and we were so glad to have it on a couple of days the beach was closed because of some debris problem. The staff is helpful and attentive. The property is kept clean and the restaurant is convenient, dependable and fairly priced. The thing is, it would be ten times better if they would invest money to update the rooms! The furnishings and baths are quite dated. I kept removing the icky bedspread and stuffing it in the closet, only to find it back on the bed the next day! Bathroom grout/tile/vanity is so dreary and icky. The two wicker chairs by the vending area are quite filthy not from lack of cleaning but just age and wear. I have learned that it is the cost of doing business, to keep things fresh and updated in addition to clean. It would make a world of difference. Again, a nice property that I hope the owners will put some money into this winter so that our next stay will feel well worth the money. It is such a shame not to maximize its assets.

  • Disliked — Needs updating, dated decor, gross smoking section in the parking lot

Pleasant experience upon arrival, beginning with luggage service. Room was well appointed, with what appeared to be new carpet, bathroom fixtures and furniture. Bath towels were white, fluffy and thirsty, and water pressure and temp was good. An added bonus was the Bath & Body Works bath products. Maid service was always prompt. The front desk staff was friendly and accomodating.

Pool was heated, and walk to beach was basically across the boardwalk only. The location was also within walking distance to eateries, amusement parks and Asbury Avenue's stores and activities (pottery painting...).

Overall, a positive stay.

My wife and I stayed at the Beach Club with our two boys (5 & 6) for three nights in early July. This was my first visit to Ocean City since 1985 (I was 14). Although we were originally surprised by the $349 price tag for an ocean view motel room, we were able to get a 25% discount by mentioning we saw a promotion on their web site.

In the end, we were glad we spent the extra money to stay here. We soon found out that other than the Flanders and Port-O-Call, the Beach Club was the only place that did not put their pool in the middle of the parking lot. At the Beach Club, the pool is perched just above the boardwalk over looking the ocean. Considering the ocean was barely 60 degrees, the 75 degree pool was a great alternative to our kids.

Everything about the place generally met our satisfaction:
• The location (13th and the boardwalk) is far enough south to be away from the main boardwalk traffic, but close enough to walk everywhere.
• There is a bike rental next door which was a great way to get around in the morning (bikes are only allowed on the boardwalk until noon).
• The pool was great for the kids and had plenty of lounge chairs for all of the guests.
• The room (we stayed in 323): adequate size and clean (the bathroom is small and shower was quite narrow), has a good ocean view, had a balcony with room for two or three to sit and watch the people walking the boardwalk.
• There is an elevator from the underground parking to each floor.
• Two beach tags are included with each room

Overall, we loved our stay and realized that as much as the world has changed, Ocean City has stayed the same. The island is still “dry”, Mack and Manco’s is still great pizza, Johnson’s Popcorn is still addictive and the boardwalk is still full of custard, water ice, salt water taffy’s, mini golf and of course the amusement parks and water slides.

We will definitely be back to OC (and will likely stay at the Beach Club) and hopefully next year we will be staying a bit longer.
