I had to add my review when I saw so many others had a bad experience like we did. I thought maybe it was just us. Apparently not. We arrived to an empty B&B, and had no idea what to do. So we waited and waited, no owners. 4 hours later (with a toddler in tow) we drove around and found a different place. My husband left a message on their answering machine. They called us the NEXT DAY and told us to come back and stay for an extra couple of nights free. So, at the end of our stay at the alternate B&B we had found, we headed over to the Koo Koos nest.

When we arrived, they explained they had been out of town and a relative was supposed to have let us in and give us our key. Anna (ownder) came to the lobby in underpants and a sports bra , by the way, to talk to us and offer a pale apology for our inconvenience. Very bizarre. We also saw her bring out a barber's chair several times and do haircuts for people (apparently the lobby serves as her beauty salon, too.)

The owners also had a screaming, horrible fight in the parking lot during our stay. Many more bizarre interactions with the owners, too... but just suffice it to say that I agree with the other reviewers that these people are, indeed, Koo Koo. Do not waste your money.

My mother & I stayed at this lovely B&B in Ocean City, NJ during the off season. We opted for the 2 room Rainforest Suite... so we could have some space. We both had a great time here. This was our first time staying at a B&B... so were where looking for something offbeat & we found it. Our Host, Anna was amazing... she was always there whenever we needed her. The rooms were a great size.... The beds were cozy.... The breakfast was to die for... & The location was amazing (close enough to walk to the beach, yet far enough to not be disturbed). Yes, as stated before with others, I did have to send a check as a deposit. And Anna wasn't there when we arrived & she left the keys for us. But who cares.... If I didn't want a laid back type place I would have booked a hotel room instead. I have no complaints & the stay was worth every penny.

We planned to spend a two night three day weekend in Ocean City. In planning the trip, we found this B+B. It originally seemed like it would be a cool weekend away. However it was nearly impossible to make contact with the owner after booking the original date. When we finally got a hold of her she had some crazy "koo-koo" excuse as to why she not reachable. (ie. the phone lines on her street were out even with the answering machine stil picking up the calls, as well she wasn't answering her cell phone number). As well, she said she was having problems with her credit card system and needed 1/2 of the balance up front in the form of cash or a check. As the date approached, hurricane weather was predicted for the area. After calling the owner like crazy, she agreed that if the weather was too bad we could reschedule for another weekend or receive a certificate for another season. After selecting a new date the owner decided that she was going to close the b+b up earlier and that we would still be able to stay but not receive breakfast. Again she had excuses about us calling too late in the evening. We asked for a refund (she has no policy concerning refunds/cancellations) if it was too inconvenient for her to have us for the weekend so we could stay elsewhere. She refused, saying she was during us -her customers a favor. The owner is full of excuses and has the worst customer service skills. The name of the b+b is so on point "KOO KOO"!!

I booked our stay for 3 nights (third week of August) over the telephone with the owner/manager of the B+B. At first, in order to secure my stay, she wanted a check, half of the agreed amount of my stay. She could not accept credit cards at that time because she was still waiting for a new replacement of her credit card reader machine. The day we check-in she forgot to hand us our beach tags. Then the following day, I wanted to pay her the rest of the balance for my stay. She mentioned that she will never get another credit card processing machine because the state charges her business XX% amount on additional taxes. So I have to pay her the remaining balance in cash, and then surprised me of adding $44.00 in tax on top of what we verbally agreed on over the telephone and even the audacity of charging more on what we agreed on over the telephone on a piece of paper she wrote down. And not even sending a confirmation letter through the mail with all the necessary details that curtails the rental and reservation contract, 2 weeks before my stay with my family, including taxes and other additional charges. Our stay was okay, except for that bad business arrangement. For some reason, I think this woman is on drugs! My assumption that she lost her privileges with major credit card business companies due to the way she runs her unprofessional arrangements. All the while on our stay, I felt that I was in some seedy area of Mexico. I would never attempt to go back or even recommend this B+B to anyone out there unless it changes its management and owner. Her name is Anna—the Koo Koo' owner.

My boyfriend booked 6 days and 5 nights at the KooKoo's nest about 6 weeks before our stay. His credit card was not charged quickly so he phoned the owner. He left two messages before he reached an owner, but he couldn't access any information because he was on the beach. He did say that he was pretty sure everything was alright, and that they normally process the charges slowly. The owner confirmed our arrival date and the room my boyfriend requested.
When we arrived at the inn, no one was home. A note was pegged to the door with instructions to call a phone number. It also listed the names of all the guests who were checking in that day with corresponding room numbers. Our name was not on the list. Luckily we have cell phones and called the number. Again, the owner was on the beach and admitted he thought we were coming the next day. He told us to take any of the vacant rooms by simply taking a key off the door and letting ourselves in. At this point, the room we requested was not available and wouldn't even be available the next day, when he thought we were arriving. We had three rooms to choose from, but were informed that we'd have to vacate any room we choose within two days because they were booked. He told us we could have our requested room when we vacated the first room. Remember, all this was being attended to over a cell phone. Knowing we had little recourse at this time and determined not to let this spoil our time in a beautiful city, we picked a room and unpacked. No one showed us to a room since no one was home. The rooms are small and sparcely appointed. The pictures on the dressers and walls look like family pictures so you get the feeling you are staying in the bedroom of a family member that has moved out.

We were never given any direction regarding the continental breakfast, honestly we never felt we were actually invited to breakfast. We dined elsewhere each morning. We moved our own belongings to the corrrect room on the third day without any word of apology from the owners. In fact, we never met the owners or any family member for the entire trip. No one ever introduced themselves to us, not once, ever. We were beginning to wonder how we were going to pay the balance of the stay since it seemed no one knew we were there. Finally, the last day as we were packing up the car, the owner introduced himself to my boyfriend and asked him to settle the bill.

We still laugh about it, to this day.
