“Seahag runs the place”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2010

My vacation would have been ok if the seahag aka the owner, would have kept out of everyones business. From the moment I checked in she literally verbally abuse me. She ranted about the cheap price they quoted me and made me feel horrible. Because I look young for my age, she basically put me down and didn't trust me. She insulted all my friends, I was so embarrassed. Her unruly grandchildren run all over the place and have no respect for the guests. They splashed all the guests and shoot water guns at you wild you are in the pool, I never felt relaxed there. The seahag also had no respect for her guests and either did her sisters who also work there. I remember when this hotel was the Packard, it was my favorite place to go growing up. People use to be so nice. These new people have totally ruined the place. For being July and the hype of the season rooms were empty. What does that tell you. The seahag never sleeps and watching you like a hawk, her evil eye on you!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel like reporting her to the better business bureau. Never will I go back there again.

Hi

Bird of Paradise is now under new management. We hope you will one day give us a try. We began our 4 year plan of changes

The First thing we are tackling is the pool interior. For a more relaxing and safer pool. We are redoing the interior of the pool with new coping, tiles and gunite resurfacing. We are also reducing the depth of the pool from 8 feet to 5 ft.

In addition, we changed 30 percent of the Beds, refrigerators, microwaves, toilets, and bathroom vanity's.

We are changing for the better. So we hope one day, you will give us another look

Thank you

This motel is a piece of crap, the lady is a rude nasty old witch who doesn't do good business to save her life. I was coming down to Wildwood with a group of my friends for prom weekend, we had booked 4 rooms for 14 people and when we went to check in she only had us booked for two rooms, and when we disagreed she gave us our money back and kicked us out forcing us to find a new hotel when everything was booked. talk about leaving us high and dry. Luckily we found the nantucket, Love them! They're amazing i will definately stay there and you should too! they even gave us a discount, such nice guys <3

i was supposed to stay at the bird of paradise from June 5th 2010 till June 8th 2010, i had made plans and reservations to stay here with a large group of friends for prom weekend, over the phone the owner seemed very nice, but she wasn't. early on Saturday June 5th one of my friends had gotten there around noon and went to park her car and ask if she could leave it there for a couple of hours until check in, well, before she could put the car in park the owner ran out yelling that she couldn't park there, once my friend told her the situation, the owner proceeded to call my friend a "dirty f**king liar and to leave ASAP". a few hours alter, the person who had all the money and was supposed to check in had went to check in, our reservations were for 14 people in 4 rooms, the owner proceeded to tell us that we only reserved 2 rooms for 10 people, how is this possible when each room was a 100$ deposit, she handed us our 400$ deposit and said good-bye have a nice weekend and told us to get out. leaving us stranded on the street 5 hours from home in north jersey, with no where to go we called every hotel in all of Wildwood and finally we had found a hotel that was willing to take us, it was a little more expensive then the bird of paradise, BUT WORTH IT!!! we ended up staying at the Nantucket and the owners were very polite, helpful and were very easy going, they took about 200$ off the rooms for us and made sure our rooms were near each other, we will always go back to the Nantucket!!! also when a parent went to call the bird to find out what was going on, the owner hung up the phone and when they tried to call back she wouldn't answer, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AT THIS DUMP!!!!!!

when we arrived for our vacation, one of the two rooms we reserved was ready, the other was still being..."CLEANED", so we headed up the street to SAMS pizza and came straight back to the motel to go in the pool. after several hours of swimming, we all went to our rooms, which were both "ready" by now, after showering we were going to put the little ones down for a nap, but the sheets in the 2nd room were full of sand (remember, this is the room that was being "CLEANED") so we asked for the sheets to be changed and the "OWNER" said " this is a beach resort, there is going to be some sand. since i could tell she had an attitude, i tried to assure her that no person in our party stepped foot on the beach, there should not be that much sand in the bed, between the sheets under a comforter, but not on top of the comforter! the "OWNER" said she would take care of it, with a smirk on her face. when i went to the room to tell the kids that someone was coming up to change the sheets, one of the adults told me there was a "CONDOM WRAPPER" on the floor behind the night stand. i picked it up with some tissue paper and marched down to the office and told the "OWNER" that while you might blame us for enough sand in our beds to build a really big sand castle, there was no way anyone in our party used "this" with all the children we had with us, and then i proceeded to drop the "CONDOM WRAPPER" in her hand. well, she didnt know what to say about that, considering the fine job her cleaning staff had done, YEAH, RIGHT! so we got put into another room(i swear, 2 days later and through the open curtains you could see that the "SANDY" room was still dirty with the linens in the same position as when we moved to the new room). needless to say we were treated like garbage because we had the audacity to ask for a clean room. but i can tell you that it was worth it to see the look of disgust on the "OWNERS" face when i dropped the CONDOM WRAPPER in her hand. i have some words for this place, gross, dirty, filthy, unsanitary, and just plain disgusting! never again will i subject myself, my family or my enemies to the nightmare that was a vacation at the bird of paradise. A WORD OF ADVISE....AVOID THE "BIRD OF PARADISE"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! one last thing, how can a motel tell people that pets are not allowed but allow the "OWNERS" dog to run around the pool area?, saying that the pool area is the dogs "playpen"???? so, its ok for a dog to pee in a pool area, but dont ask for new sheets when its obvious that the maids are leaving dirty/filthy sheets for new guests....i gotta go, i just walked in the house after driving back from the bird of paradise, and i wanted to warn everyone about how dirty it is there, but now after writing this i feel REALLY DIRTY! i need to bathe in LYSOL and burn my clothes and luggage. there are way too many good motels in wildwool to subject your family to what we went through, so look around and be safe!

Our first stay at the Bird of Paradise was GREAT! We stayed at the Kings Inn for several years and paid top dollar! Both places are old motels and need some updates but I felt like I was in Paradise this year. Rosanne gave us a great price for our 2 week stay. Half of what we paid at the Kings Inn. From the minute we checked in on 8-10-09 we felt welcome. The staff could not do enough for you. The Room was clean and Maids friendly. The pool was SPOTLESS and we were allowed to swim late due to the hot humid weather. The location was great! Nothing was too much for Rosanne and her staff. Will definitely be back soon!!!!

once again we made our yearly trip to wildwood and switch motels this year to the bird of paradise. we have stayed here before years ago. every place you stay has its pro's and cons and everyone has its own opinion. remember your at a beach not a five star resort. as for the motel, when we arrived, we got there before check in however our room was ready and we were able to check in. the front desk could have been cleaned up at little if you were going to welcome visitors that would make the 1st impression. the lady at the desk was very nice. when we entered the room it was a very welcomed room, bright and neat. the potty in the bathroom made a banging noise when you sat down and the window did not crank open. i talked to the pool/maintenance man and he did get the window open but we did not tell him about the potty. the light above our table didnt work but only because the light bulb was burned out so we swapped out 1 from the bathroom. the lil fridge new 1 temp and it took the 3 days we were there to even get cold. i was told i had it turned too far to work. it was on 4 and 5 next was max. i think the a/c was blowing on it across the room and it was sensing that there for wouldnt run. the staff was very nice and the pool was clean and warm (heated). all in all it was a comfortable place felt like home with a few problems. the location was the best part as it was right off the boardwalk. we would probably stay again but this time we will tell them whats wrong with the room instead of fixing it ourselves. maybe thats the problem, people dont say much. the owners arent going to know unless you tell them.
