I cannot tell you enough to stay away from this awful hotel! We booked a room onlne and lived to regret our choice. When you walk in the front lobby it is VERY old looking and scary (reminded me of getting on the Tower of Terror ride at MGM studios). The desk clerk was on his cell phone the whole time he was checking us in and barely said 2 words to us.

We get into the room and it has old beat up furniture from the 80's, the tv didnt work, the toilet was leaking at the base all over the floor, and the shower had mildew all around the tiles. The sheets didnt fit the bed and to top it off there was NO HEAT! It was colder in our room than it was outside (47 degrees outside) . The curtains had so many tears in them that you could see outside with the curtains closed.

We went down to tell them there was no heat but they didnt seem to care (didnt even offer an extra blanket or a maintenance person to fix it), when going back to our room there was a guest in the elevator who said she was going into the dining area for breakfast area but changed her mind when a RAT ran past her on the way in.

After 2 1/2 hours we decided to check out off this dump but they wouldnt give our money back. When we got to our car there was a couple parked beside us whos car was broken into and they were waiting for the police. They told the management at the hotel but the manager said " oh well, call the police". No concern at all for their guests.

This hotel is clearly only in business for $$$ and do not care if their guests are comfortable at all. Once you pay for the room you are on your own, you mean nothing to them anymore.

The staff were very helpful and efficient, though l feel they could work on thier friendliness a little more.

The rooms were clean, continental breakfast was good, our two wake up calls were dead ontime.

The location of the hotel is convenient, just a 15-20 minute drive into New York. We hired a car at the airport but didn't really use it too much because the parking is very expensive in NYC, not to mention the tolls! Instead we used the Hotel Shuttle bus which runs from 8am -10pm at $5 per person per journey.

Also there is a NY tourbus trip that conveniently picks up at the hotel, that was well run and also very good value for money.

l will also mention two restaurants that we visited which are close to the hotel. The Cairo and the Coach House ... the food was excellent and the price very reasonable.

So overall ... we really enjoyed our stay in the Palace, it was a great base to go and visit NY ... and there are also plenty of places to go and have a meal close to the hotel. We would stay there again.

TERRIBLE!!! The worst place I've ever stayed. We got there late after a long drive and thought it's a "Palace" must be a nice place...WRONG!!! Entered the lobby which is obviously where they've put their money, but that's as far as nice went. Ask to see a room, they gave me a metal key...walked up a flight of stairs and that's were the nightmare began, the hallways seemed to be under repair...I got into the room and it seem to be in repair because there was a large section of the wall that had just been plastered and there was a bad smell in the room...I thought I will give this another try maybe this is the room they keep for last resort purposes, asked to see another room....this one seemed to be a little bit better and because it was late I figured it's just a place to rest my head. In the middle of the night I thought I heard scratching and thought "NO it can't be".... YES it was, the next morning I got up and saw a mouse running across my bedroom floor. I quickly packed up the kids and said we are leaving NOW!
I stopped by the front desk to ask to speak to a manager and he told me he would be ther in 10 min. I waited 20 min and went back he was talking in Indian to a woman who I believe may have been a manager but she responded in loud Indian. He then told me the manager would be in in about 1 hr. I was leaving and had already returned the key so he knew I wasn't going to wait around for 1 hr. I left him a note to tell the manager to go clean the mouse droppings from my dresser. When we returned I called the "manager" and he refused to refund my money. Saying that there was nothing he could do for this time but that he would give me a discount on my next stay....Needless to say there will not BE a next time....

Our bus tour stopped at this hotel on our way to see the Color Purple. OMG where do I start! Don't let the "very nice" lobby fool you, once the elevator doors open to your floor you feel the dread. When we were issued "metal keys" instead of entry cards we should have known what was in store for us. The carpets needed to be replace due to fading and odors. The bathrooms are painted gray and black--cute you may think until it's time to shower and you can't see your hand in front of you because it is so DARK! You guessed it, no lights in the shower. Our room overlooked a filthy disgusting empty pool. Others in our group suffered from even more drama (i.e., standing water in showers, flying insects, spiders, no clocks in rooms, no water sprinklers and hair in their beds). Let's see if I have room to discuss the continental breakfast. If you can reach the table through the flies good luck. They actually kept the items (bagels/bread) uncovered with flying insects buzzing all around and a female sheriff patrolling to make sure everyone gets a ticket before even entering into the "cafe" area. If you're ever in the neighborhood, just keep going you won't be sorry!
