This establishment offers spectacular views along the west bank of the Hudson River. Located across from Manhattan’s northern tip, Waterside offers a view of the New York City skyline, down the complete island to the new World Trade tower (at least on a reasonably clear day).
At Waterside, we enjoyed both appetizers, entrees, and desserts. From this wide range of selections, our favorite appetizer was scallops served with a creamed corn sauce. Among entrees, we most enjoyed a delicious osso buco with the creamy mashed potatoes. From all the delicious desserts, Norm’s chocoholic favorite was a tall chocolate cake, complete with ice cream on the side. Cheesecake and key lime pie also deserve mention and were Maralyn’s choice.
Waterside is owned by three children of restaurant owners, Constantino (“Gus”), Constantina (“Dina”), and Francie. Karlo is their Executive Chef and Gus is the Sous Chef. Seating capacity in the restaurant is 100, while 220 can be accommodated in a party mode. What’s amazing, is each of the three children have different roles and work as a team in this family affair.
The owners have spent lavishly to restore the building and windows to afford these Hudson views. Two floors are available for special events upstairs. This summer, they intend to install sliding doors on the first floor, so that its entire setting will seem like outdoors.
