Hotel room was average however noise was aweful. Booked a room on the executive floor thinking it would be nicer and quieter. I was woke up several times throughout the night from other rooms and hallway as well as the staff when they slipped the receipt under the door at 3am! Hotel staff was average but when I came down to the lobby to inquire about the about the included breakfast with the executive package I booked I was told they do not do breakfast coupons as it stated on my reservation. Rate Details: "EXECUTIVE PACKAGE FREE INTERNET, CONCIERGE ACCESS W/ BRKFAST & FREE LOCAL CALLS (BRKFST COUPON ON FRI & SAT)" from their website. I showed them this and they stated that they do not do that. Also $21.00 for parking was a little much. There are better hotels around the corner that include breakfast and cheaper parking to include another Hilton. Would not stay here again.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights while awaiting our sailing day for the Caribbean. We found the hotel standards are very good and staff always helpful. From the hotel to the station is only a couple of minutes through a covered walkway from which you can catch a train and be in New York in 15/20 minutes. We did not eat in the hotel so cannot give any comments on the food. Just out-side there are numerous cafe`s where you can buy from sandwiches to steaks.
I went out at night but did not venture far as I did not feel safe to wander to far from hotel. The bar staff were always helpful.
We went into New York on the two days we stayed at The Hilton and found it to be a lovely city.
First day we spent at the 9-11 memorial and next day we spent hours getting about town, will need to go back to catch everything we missed.

We recently had a large birthday party in Newark. Since several guests were coming from out of town, we arranged for a group rate with the excellent sales staff at the Hilton. We couldn't have been happier with the service they provided.

The reservations process was easy for our guests, no one had problems booking the group rate. One person asked to move their room because of some noisy neighbors and the request was handled immediately.

I really want to give a shout out to Lucille and the entire front desk staff at the Newark Hilton. They made everyone feel special and enhanced the wonderful party we had with friends and relatives. Thanks again for a great job.

Best thing about the hotel is its location, right next to the Newark Penn Station. Thus, making it very convenient to travel anywhere within NJ as well as NY from here.

Hotel is similar to other Hilton's with the exception of their staff at reception. For whatever reason they did not seem to keen in helping me for any queries. I did not have any complains with their room service or house keeping.

Their inhouse restaurant is okay but does not have many vegetarian options. They are located in the Gateway Centre thus walking distance with many key stalls and restaurants.

There is a Metro Cafe right next to the hotel and is an ideal place for breakfast, lunch or dinner as economical cost. There is a subway as well thus plenty of options nearby.

Outside the gateway centre there seem to be some nice places to visit but the area did not seem too safe thus I did not explore much. Hotel has free wi-fi that works only in the lobby and was okay. I would say this hotel is not a bad choice for the price I paid $170 per night plus taxes.

keeping the Hilton standards, excellent location to reach Manhattan in few minutes by train. Better rates than in Manhattan being so close and with good communication service by train, is worth to stay there.

I researched many hotels for our family's first trip to NYC. I finally settled on the Hilton due to its rate and proximity to Newark airport and NJ Transit. We were very impressed with the hotel staff who extended a warm welcome and made sure we had what we needed throughout our stay. The room was comfortable and quiet. As residents of Texas, we had no first-hand knowledge of Newark or the transit system, so we relied on reviews and information from other sources. We read many negative reviews about Newark and the Newark Penn Station, but we were very pleased with our decision to stay at the Newark Hilton. It was a quick trip by train from the airport and a 15 minute ride to NYC Penn Station. Once we figured out our way around Newark Penn Station, it was an easy way to get to NYC. As long as you arrive back to the hotel by 10 p.m. or so, there will be plenty of travelers around the station to make it comfortable walking through Penn Station. The hotel walkway from the station provides easy access. In addition, since the hotel is also connected to a business building by an enclosed plaza area, it provides a good place for a quick breakfast or lunch at donut or sandwich shops before heading to NYC. The only thing I would consider next time is that it costs $10 round-trip for the train to NYC. Depending on the number of people needing to take the train to NYC, you need to consider this cost if you're comparing the room rates with NYC hotels. It costs our family $30 a day for the transit, which would put us close to a decent room in NYC at a comparable cost without having to take the train each day. We definitely recommend this hotel for a trip to NYC and appreciate the hospitality of hotel employees.

This hotel left a lot to be desired. It must be rated 4 stars on location alone. This was just a barely above average hotel with covered walking access to Penn Station. Everything was extremely dated and the bathroom was tiny and cramped.
