“Great place to stay if visiting the Prudential Center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

This Hilton is connected by walkway to Newark Penn Station making it ideal for those traveling by train or needing an alternative to nearby EWR. It was a short walk to the Prudential Center. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was a bit of a tight squeeze, but there was plenty of hot water. The staff at the front desk was kind enough to provide a toothbrush! Also tried the room service and I can recommend the salmon and the cheeseburger.

Room Tip: I'd stay away from the elevator vestibules.

Rooms were clean , as were the hall ways. Somehow expected more from a Hilton. Rooms were average , but above Holiday value . Some small annoying things were , no NFL channel , no Fx. Room service hamburgers were tasteless. My friend had a room by the ice machine , noise and banging from the machine all night . Some shifts in the restaurant couldn't get the order right . Stayed there for two weeks . Limited menu was adequate .

This hotel is located within blocks of the Prudential Center where my wife and I attended a Rolling Stones concert. Incredibly convenient and also right across the street from the train station so we could easily travel into NYC to visit the sites and enjoy a day in the Big Apple. The room was very well appointed and the Concierge Room was a very nice amenity with snacks and drinks in the evening and a well-stocked breakfast buffet in the morning.

Eve at the front desk was very helpful in making an arrangement for friend of ours who were in need of a room on short notice. All of the staff members (front desk, restaurant, concierge lounge) were very attentive, nice and helpful - loved this hotel!

Stayed here Dec. 7&8, 2012. Hotel offers free shuttles hourly from Newark Liberty Airport.
The hotel is adjacent to the PATH station (no need to go outside) . You can get to either World Trade Center (downtown) or 33rd st, ( midtown ) for a fraction of the cost of a taxi!

Restaurant is very reasonable and the staff is friendly. Rooms are a good size and beds are comfortable. Hotel rates are excellent, especially on weekends, compared with Manhattan. If you are a late night party person in Manhattan, PATH stops service at 10 PM so not a good choice.

Room Tip: I was on 8th floor. Some airport noise, but when you close the heavy drapes, no problem with noise.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Hilton Hotel at Newark's Pennsylvaina Station. The hotel was well appointed and the staff friendly, professional and very helpful. The rooms are comfortable and pleasant. The best aspect of a stay at this property is its proximity to the train station. There is an elevated/enclosed walkway that takes guest from the hotel to the station without going outside. The trains to and from New York City and a miriade of other destinations are readily accessible. The train from Newark to the Penn Staion at Madison Square Gardens takes less than thirty minutes and places the rider roughly one block from Macy's Department Store. If you are looking for a less expensive place to stay and avoiding the hassles associated with driving a car in New York City this is a great alternative.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012 via mobile

This hotel was chosen to allow easy access to rail transport in this region - from Philadelphia to Connecticut. And if Super Storm Sandy had not appeared this would have proven to be the case. Despite being a hotel that at times showed its age, the rooms were comfortable (a window leak mid storm must be forgiven when fans are being blown from the roof!) the restaurant / bar was welcoming and the option of facilities around the hotel were adequate.
From our arrival the reception staff were amazingly calm and supportive - already forward planning our unexpected extended stay by booking added room nights.
The hotel location opposite Penn station is great and I would stay here again. Much better value than fighting around NY when a simple train trip will get you there. Plus easy access to Liberty Airport.
