“Pleasantly Surprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

We stayed here for 1 night (the night of the blizzard) before our flight out the next day (which was delayed until after Newark Airport opened at noon). We checked in very easily and quickly. My husband parked the car at the airport and then took the shuttle back to the hotel. He said it was right there waiting at the airport so he didn't have to wait around for it.

The room was MUCH nicer than we expected. 2 double beds and they gave us a crib for the baby. It was very clean and roomy and comfortable.

The next morning we ate breakfast downstairs- a buffet. It was decent. Service was good. They informed us at the front desk that the airport was closed until noon (there was a sign). They had a screen with flight info in the lobby showing all the canceled/delayed flights. They also had computers with free wifi in the lobby that my daughter used to play disney jr. games on before taking the shuttle over to the airport (they called it for us and it arrived very quickly to bring us to the airport).

We booked this not expecting much- mainly just to avoid having to shovel out our car and drive in the morning and were definitely pleasantly surprised. If we ever need a hotel near Newark airport again, it will be this one.

This property provided the best launch pad I've ever had for a business trip. Immaculate throughout. Rooms had lots of space and things like outlets were intelligently spaced. No sound bleed at all. Bar and restaurant better than adequate. Airport transfer on demand exceeded expectations - when I returned, I didn't even have to call as I saw the van outside. Free safe parking. And each and every employee expresses top-level customer service. I will fly out of EWR whenever possible knowing this property will make it effortless for me.

The servers for dinner time were actually eating behind the bar in front of everyone. Service was OK, food was OK too. Breakfast staff was asleep and they had poor service and not all food was available. The room was OK and very noisy. The views are bad but for an overnight flight stay its good.

Room Tip: The fifth floor was noisy.

I stayed here one night following a cancelled flight at the Newark Airport and needed a place to stay until my flight the next morning. I was dropped off at the door and had a good impression of the hotel when I walked in. Driving up to the hotel was a completely different impression though. It is abandoned buildings, highway systems, and parking lots for as far the eye can see. Fortunately you cannot hear any of the outside noise when inside the hotel.. Not the planes, not the traffic, nothing. There is a decent restaurant onsite in the lobby where I had boneless chicken bites and a small pizza. Very good, about as expensive as you would assume for a hotel restaurant. There was complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby. The business section had a laptop hookup to utilize their printer. They had a copier/printer for use along with a couple new computers. I did not do much exploring of the hotel outside the lobby. The room was nice and comfortable, view was the abandonded building and parking lot but I wasnt there for that. It was raining and windy so the cable would go in and out and get fuzzy just as I was getting into a show. The shuttle was somewhat convienent: It does NOT take you to the terminal. It takes you up and around to the tram so that you have to take that into the terminal. A little confusing because I wasnt aware of this but it worked out okay. The shuttle is 24 hour on demand so I was down at 330am in the lobby and he had just left with a group. I had to wait until he got back but I still had plenty of time. Overall, it was a great stay and I will definitely use this hotel again when waiting for a plane.

Stayed overnight to catch a flight the following day. Our room was quite large, with lots of plugs for recharging electrical devices. Very good lighting as well. Our room faced the airport, but we did not hear any planes. The bed was very comfortable, with a choice of pillows. Very important that after collecting bags you follow the signs for the sky train one level up. Take it to the P4 stop, and there you will find the hotel shuttles. The Holiday Inn shuttle was already there. Friendly, efficient check in. Shuttle runs 24 hours, so easy early connection back to airport.

My husband and I are planning an extended holiday and prebooked into this hotel for summer dates. Previously, when dealing with this hotel, where we have stayed twice before, the room was billed at the time of arrival. Today, we got our credit card bill and the rooms which were booked 5 months in advance were on it. We really like this hotel, but after dealing with customer relations at Holiday Inn Corporate Office, we are left with a bad taste in our mouths. We have no complaints about the charges, just the fact that they have chosen to take our money 5 months in advance. Even the most polite customer will get no help or a straight answer from their representatives. Anyone who deals with online bookings should beware when dealing with Holiday Inn. It is so unfortunate, as we always stay with this chain and have ALWAYS been satisfied with their product. Needless to say, this is our last reservation with any Holiday Inn.

Modern update Holiday Inn, full connectivity TV where you can connect your laptop etc to view wide screen.

Arrived late, left early so didn't use too many facilities but v close to airport with a secure car park.

Room was v comfortable and no noise considering it's proximity to a busy road and the airport.

Wide range of breakfast buffet choice - my only disappointment was that when I opened my yogurt it looked kind of "old" - looked at the best before date and noticed that the whole selection of yogurts were a week out of date !
