“Unfriendly welcome”

This hotel was ok for the money. I had to book it quickly due to flight cancellations. I had a few questions to ask when I arrived but it was like talking to a wall. The room was clean but smelled musty. I was lucky I was only there from sleep and leave first thing.

This is exactly what you would expect for your dollar and more.

Service with a smile. Free in room wifi thats fast and a really clean and comfortable bed in a room thats quiet with big flat screen tv and plenty of channels. The bathroom was modern and clean with a Superb shower. The restaurant downstairs was also a good value sports bar kinda place to grab an early or late bite to eat. Highly reccomend it. Downside is te hotel is a little out if the way from downtown so if your looking for a holiday stay. Something closer to manhattan magy be better but definitely 3 times the price. HJ hotel has a free shuttle service which is regular to the airport and takes about 10mins to get there and theres also a service to manhatton.

Forced to overnight due to weather I chose the Howard Johnson being close (2km) from the airport with its own shuttle bus and the Howard Johnson reputation for clean decent accommodation at a reasonable price. I was not disappointed..room was as expected..large with two Queen beds, flat screen tv, coffee maker, safe, and clean bath with the usual accessories. Breakfast was nothing special ..a buffet with limited choice but all properly cooked and free coffee. Best was a shuttle every 30 minutes and in the snowstorm their driver took me right to my terminal door. And the bed was so comfortable that I slept soundly.

If you need to fly out of Newark on an early morning flight this Howard Johnson is a fine choice. The rooms were comfortable, shuttle right on time and right next to airport and the price is right. They offer free parking for a week as well and when we got back our car was totally encased in snow and ice and the shuttle driver Patel helped us get out. Very helpful staff at this HoJo.

My husband and I booked this room on a whim after winning concert tickets to the Prudential Center. The front desk staff was very knowledgeable and friendly, both before our arrival when we phoned to ask questions, and during our stay itself. (I wish I would've seen the name tag of the gentleman who checked us both in and out, & arranged taxi service for us; as he was OUTSTANDING).

The room is dated and definitely had some cosmetic damage, but it was immaculately clean, and the beds were comfortable. Microwave and fridge included in the room were a nice addition, as well as the flat-screen TV with almost 30 channels and a good picture. Can't beat the price in Newark, even with the $15 parking fee, which is totally understandable considering their proximity to the airport. If we return to Newark, we'll definitely stay again!
