“Average Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

This hotel is average. The service is ok- the staff is nice. The suites are good for New Brunswick and the hotel is good, good bar, good restaurant, good tavern, nice gym, tennis courts and pool. It is in a good location, only 10 minutes away from Rutgers. It is near Newark International Airport,.
Overall, its a good hotel.

Room Tip: Get the One Bedroom Suite

“Good Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

I have used this hotel for about 15 years.

If you get a room away from the highway it is a good place to stay. Staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are generally well appointed, clean and comfortable.

The bar staff are very good but the bar lacks any sort of character and although very clean is not an inviting environment,

It is pretty expensive for what it is but if you get a discount or corporate rate it is probably reasonable value.

Reasons to stay - location and staff.

Room Tip: Avoid any room overlooking the highway.

“God hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

This was good experience during my first visit to the US in Sept 11, I was staying at Hyatt Regency New Brunswick. It is a good hotel, rooms are spacious and clean, staff is friendly and helpful. However this is quite a old hotel it seems from the building condition. It was crowded during week end due to various functions going on. Breakfast was OK there was sufficient options to choose from.

“Nickeled and dimed with faded glory”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

I booked this hotel blind using hotwire. Why is that relevant....because you apparently don't receive the morning newspaper with a hotwire booking. (I booked two rooms and neither received the paper) You do, however, have the opportunity to pay $3 for a bottle of water in your room and $10 per day for slow wireless internet and $13 a day for parking. Why does a 4 Star(?) hotel feel the need to turn every amenity into a revenue source? At the very least they could paint the dirty and chipped trim and doors, replace the ceiling light so the bathroom door could be shut with rubbing against the lamp glass, replace the broken knobs on the dresser and desk and fix the exterior glass door so cold and noise don’t seep through. Oh, and check the iron before using. It might have some unidentified burnt substance that renders your shirt unwearable. The front desk clerk sincerely apologized and said they would take off the charge for laundry, but of course it was on my bill at check out. Perhaps I expect too much from a 4 Star(?) hotel. I think a star rating should have a up or down arrow to indicate the quality trend. This hotel is definitely trending down.

“Starting to show it's age...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

We have stayed at this hotel many times before due to it's location and convenient access to both the highway and train station...

However, this time we were completely taken aback by how much our room was "falling apart". The wallpaper had some damage, one of the knobs to the dresser was completely missing, and hardly any of the outlets seemed to be working. Every time we tried to plug anything in to an outlet, the plug just fell out...and you could see sparks of electricity trying to make contact with the plugs...The bottom of the dresser had pieces of wood missing and needed some cosmetic repairs...Also the vending machine on the floor was completely not working and when we left to check out, the trash cans by the elevator on our floor were overflowing with garbage and even had an old suitcase next to it that someone had discarded...

On the upside, the staff at check in this time were WONDERFUL...Nisha at the front desk was amazing and there was another gentleman (can't remember his name) who helped bring luggage upstairs and was extremely pleasant and cheerful... Both of them went above and beyond their roles by locating directions for me online and were just generally friendly and eager to please. The staff at checkout were completely different and very quick and matter-of-fact-similar to our previous stays at this hotel...

Not quite sure what happened this time around with the condition of the room and property. Hopefully they will get some much needed renovations and attention to the condition of the rooms in the near future. Normally I am more forgiving about this stuff, but not in a hotel that is in a 4 star "luxury" category...

Room Tip: Ask for the side of the hallway that does not overlook the highway...The highway side was very noisy...
