I had booked 3 days to stay at this hotel, to be near my child at Rutgers.
The outside looked pretty nice and after negotiating directly with the front desk, the price was reasonable.
The room was pretty decent, good size. My room had 2 doors which made me a little uncomfortable security-wise. The second door opened out onto the courtyard with the pool and the other door opened out onto the parking area.
The next morning, my car was broken into in a span of 5 minutes. We had entered the room to grab a few items and then were planning to leave. They ransacked my car and took valuable items.
I was told by the police, that I needed to leave this hotel, that this type of thing happened all the time at this hotel. Drug addicts, transients and prostitutes stay here. They advised me to leave that morning and I did.
We were targeted and watched as we went into the room and then they went to work.
I spoke to another customer that morning as I was checking out and she had suffered through a night of loud noise and was glad that she was leaving.
I couldn't get any answers out of the manager and the police seemed surprised that I wasn't warned by the management, since I had spoken to them directly before I arrived.
The location of the hotel is a concern also and can only be entered from one direction as it is right after an exit off a major highway and since New Jersey doesn't allow left hand turns, you can only enter the parking lot safely by coming off the exit and turning in. This make it extremely difficult to come and go. To leave the hotel, you had to drive through a restaurant parking lot, and take numerous turns to get back on Hwy 18. There was no back entry to the hotel which made it hard to come from another direction.
