We have lived in the area for over 20 years and never tried the local Cracker Barrel until last night. Noone could decide what we wanted to eat or where we wanted to go, so when someone threw out the name CB, we all agreed to give it a try. What a pleasant surprise! We arrived at 6pm on a Sunday and the restaurant was pretty full, but we only had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. (party of six) The menus had a nice variety, the prices seemed reasonable,(our total bill without tip was only $70) and you can get breakfast all day. There was a big wood fire in the fireplace that made the large spacious dining area very comfortable.
Three of us ordered breakfast which was delicious and plentiful. (doggy bags for tomorrows lunch) The French Toast with warm maple syrup was the favorite. Two of us ordered the Sunday Special: Homestyle Boneless Southern Fried Chicken Breasts.(2pieces) My side choices were pinto beans and turnip greens.(house favorites) The chicken was outstanding, moist inside, nice and crunchy outside. Pintos were bland, but the Turnip Greens (made with ham) were really delicious. My daughter order the hot roast beef dinner which she loved.
Our server was very attentive, warm biscuits and cornbread were served while we waited for our meals, the food came out in a timely manner, even the COFFEE was good. Prices were a good value and portions were generous. This was a really nice surprise.
