This is the second time this year I have found a fabulous restaurant while searching what was walking distance from the train station. I must state first that though the name indicates it's a sushi restaurant, we did not go there for sushi, so I'm unable to weigh in on the sushi dishes. I had hibachi steak and my friend had hibachi chicken. Both were served with what I can only assume are the traditional accoutrements of a hibachi dinner (miso soup and a salad with a DELICIOUS gingery-garlicy dressing) because Aji Sushi prepares them in exactly the same way as my favorite Japanese restaurant at home. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our dinners, the beef and chicken were prepared just right, and served piping hot with generous helpings of both rice and noodles, and a mix of zucchini, carrots and onions. It was actually too much food to finish after the soup and salad but it made great leftovers the next day. The service was excellent and the atmosphere very pleasant and cozy. An added bonus was the BYOB feature....we have NO restaurants at home with a BYOB policy so I'm delighted to find them when travelling, we can have wine with our meals and not pay a fortune. Dinner at Aji Sushi was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I will make a point to return next time I am in Morris Plains.
