Columbia Inn Restaurant in Montville, New Jersey

Looking for some great food that’s close to home, well visit the Columbia Inn in Montville and you won’t be disappointed. Out party was greeted warmly when we came in around 6pm on Saturday night and were asked if we had reservations which we didn’t, but it didn’t seem to matter and we were shown a table right away. The décor in the family style restaurant was nice with old pictures of the Inn before it was a restaurant. The tables were set up with a valentine theme which was nice. Our waiter was prompt and explained that he will be covering our table as the waitress hadn’t arrived yet. He explained that she was coming from church and will be in shortly, which was fine with us. He then took our drink order. Looking over the menu there is wide selection meals mostly Italian dishes but there is nothing wrong with that as they were broken down into the different sections, pasta, fish, veal, chicken, desserts etc.
I ordered a salad for an appetizer and it was rather large but it came to the table cold and crispy, just the way salad should be. I confess I didn’t finish it, as I wanted to leave room for my dinner. My partner ordered a salmon entry dish and it was delicious, sliced thin, very tender and with just a splash of an Italian dressing on it. I could have had this dish as a main meal as it was delicious. My main dish was veal franchises’ it came to the table hot and tender. My partner’s main dish was a shrimp risotto which he thought was great with a nice flavor and just enough shrimp. During dinner our waitress showed up and introduced herself to us and explained that she will be taking care of us. We finished dinner and were asked if we would like to have dessert, we said yes and our waitress told us what was available for dessert. It was a difficult choice as there were many selections, and I choose the carrot cake only after I knew it had real cream cheese frosting on it, which it did. We shared the dessert and it was good, love good carrot cake. When we were done and getting ready to leave the place was packed and I know why good food! Our total dinner bill including drinks came to $100.00 and that included 3 rounds of drinks. I think that if you didn’t have alcohol, the bill would drop significantly. On our way out we passed by the bar area, which is separated from the dining room. The bar area is large with bar seating around the entire bar; great for lunch stop I am sure (they are open for lunch too). All and all the Columbia Inn is a nice family restaurant that serves good food and it’s worth a visit, I know we will be back!
