“Charged No-Show Fee even though hotel was CLOSED upon arrival”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

We booked two rooms through hotels.com in early June 2013 to use while passing through on July 10 2013. We arrived that evening to find the hotel completed closed due to flooding with a note on the door referring us to JARDINS DE RAMEL, a different property behind Le Majestic (and owned by the same company, I believe.) However, the sign also noted that the office for JARDINS DE RAMEL closed at 8pm, which was prior to when we had arrived that evening. With no one available to assist us, found other accommodations. Upon return to the US the next week, we discovered that JARDINS DE RAMEL had charged us two no show fees without ever informing us in advance that our rooms were unavailable. We called the hotel directly to get the charges reversed and hotel refused to do so. We have contested charges with our credit card company. Poor showing by both Le Majestic and JARDINS DE RAMEL. Don't give these folks your business.

While travelling through the Pyrenees we needed somewhere to stay for a night, and settled on Luchon. After noting down the names of a few hotels we drove around town looking at a few before settling on Le Majestic.
It is a wonderful old building, having been renovated not too long ago. As a result the rooms are fresh and clean.
The only downside is that as it is an old building, it's noisy, being able to hear people walking in rooms and corridors above the room.
However for the price we paid for the room we were happy with what we got.

Room Tip: If you love showers, ask for a room that has a wall attachment to hold up the shower head. Ours was...

This hotel is set in some spectactular scenery and our large room had a view of the mountains.

We arrived late as we did many of the Tour De France routes before our arrival. We therefore ate late in the restaurant and were not dissapointed. The food was very good and the set meals did not dissapoint us.

We had a great nights sleep and the breakfast was good too.

The hotel is lovely but pretty basic. It was clean and comfortable, and was situated in a good location amid beautiful parks but just a short walk from the main street in Luchon.

Everything was fine and met our expectation, but the noise from the busy road in front of the hotel is very loud at night if you have the windows open. It is a main road, with lots of big trucks passing by at night. In addition, the road surface in rough, so the tire noise is exacerbated.

In short, whilst we liked the hotel, we got very little sleep. I can recommend the hotel, but only if the room face the back, which should be much more quiet.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the busy street in front of the hotel!!!!!!!

The hotel has a very nice setting and is easily accessible. The rooms are spacious and the cot for our son was comfortable. The only things that are missing are ventilation (when we open the windows in the heat the traffic noise is very loud), there are no facilities to boil your own water and no fridge. We managed ok but they would have made the stay much nicer.
We tried breakfast once and it was quite average but with so many nice patisserie in town we didn't have to use it again.

We went to Luchon to visit the thermal bath, in particular the Vaporarium. The hotel is at walking distance to the town centre, the thermal bath and ski-lift. With a note from the reception discount to both applies.
Hotel rooms are large enough, nice 160 cm wide double bed, and from the second floor a view over the town. The bathroom with shower is small but adequate and a with good individual heating system installed.
The room has bright and fresh colours, no traffic noise due to double windows, no safe locker and no English language TV channels. This hotel has a very wide and comfortable staircase, but also lifts for wheelchairs.
Behind the hotal plenty parking space and many appartments for people staying longer.
Good breakfast buffet in one of the newly decorated restaurant rooms.

Nice hotel, with recent interior renovation, colourfull decoration. Very confortable, clean, spacy.
I stayed on the top floor and it was very quiet, with great view of the city and surrounding mountains. At the reception, very impersonal treatment, standard breakfast.
