“Still a favorite with locals and out-of-towners alike.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013 via mobile

Pub: Charming old style ambience, lively, noisy. Excellent food , but they've raised prices and are no longer individually owned , with new corporate ownership. Still felt the same local friendliness, attentive service and excellent food.
Did not appreciate being seated though against a constantly clanging bus tray behind our heads (ouch my ears ) considering the restaurant was not busy and had plenty of openings upon our arrival. Otherwise food was excellent.

“Nicely Done”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

Had really wanted to go to the main restaurant but it was Monday and they were closed. The Pub is right next door and open so we on in. The décor is wonderful, gives the feeling of a road house. It looks to have been the carriage foe Inn and is beautifully transformed. We were seated quickly and cared for in most efficient manner. There was no rush from our server. The meals were brought promptly and were quite good. Overall this was a most pleasant experience. I would recommend this place without hesitation.

“Great first experience & we'll be back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

Came here for the first time (Tavern, not Pub) for dinner tonight (Saturday). Upon entering, felt like a nice, warm, friendly tavern; not pretentious or stuffy. We were quickly seated and for the rest of the meal had great, attentive service, including by the GM.

While the 30 day dry aged strip steak was amazing, the shrimp appetizer wasn't as we expected it, plus it came out 2 minutes after the wife's salad, so it was taken off the bill proactively. In this day and age, this seemed indicative of good service. Furthermore, the exec chef later came to our table to check on our entrees- a nice touch.

Desserts were ok, nothing fabulous, but we really loved our entrees and the excellent service. For that alone, we were quite impressed, can now understand why there are so many local repeat customers, and we WILL be back again soon!

“Keep it simple”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

Raw bar is always very good, so long as you keep to pub-type food you won't be disappointed. Bubbly shrimp appetizer always a fav.

“Tavern: Fancy Pub: Fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

Which ever one you would like to go to, they are both great restaurants. The pub is more casual. You might see one of your friends there too! Here is a list of the different reviews of the pub vs Tavern.
Pub:
-Loud
-Friendly
-you have to wait long lines (unless you make a reservation)
-The food is great
-Great service
-Great Bar

Tavern:
-Quite
-Peaceful
-Food is great
-Service is great
-Great menu

Either way, these too are really great places and if your in Mendham and are looking for a great place to eat, you should visit here.
